The California Highway Patrol is having a standoff with the Rapid transit district? Oh, well, what the heck? Who is winning?
To: Lent
Between the 5/91 interchange... spike strip was dropped and the bus is stopped.... standoff with the CHP... 2 mile freeway backup...

Now I am confused.
The California highway patrol is chasing the Rapid Transit whatever?
To: Don Myers
The K9 Units are getting ready... talking head is reporting that the dogs are out on the freeway barking...

Someone stole a bus and had a big street/freeway chase. The spike strip stopped the chase, but now there is a standoff...

It's a standoff, not a chase.
To: VaBthang4
Someone hijacked a bus!

30 minute stalemate between the bus and the cops so far... police looking to get the dogs in the bus

I've got it on the tube. They've got a bus roadblocked.
Hijacking, maybe?
Not sure how close on the 91 they are to LAX.
To: ambrose
"talking head is reporting that the dogs are out on the freeway barking..."
I guess that it is getting serious now. The dogs are looking for their donuts.
To: ambrose
So what the heck is going on? A big smoking diesel transit bus on a spike strip? A shootout between the CHP and RTD? A bus hijacking? Or what? I'm so confused...

The bus was stolen while the bus driver left to go to the bathroom

What has Alice done now?
To: HiTech RedNeck
Highjacked a bus, now stopped and in a stand off?
Wrong tactic bro.
LA SWAT should have this wrapped up before I can spell check this.

Oh, the bus was stolen. That is a little different than the CHP vs the bus service.
To: Don Myers
"talking head is reporting that the dogs are out on the freeway barking..." See post 9....I told you guys....I told you..but did anyone believe me? NoooOooOOOoooo
To: Sabertooth
If you want to get really surrealistic, "Speed" is on FX right now. :)
To: Danette
Not FTP......?
To: ambrose
It ain't RTD (Rapid Transit District) any more anyway, it's MTA (Metropolitan Transit Authority). A lot of 'em run on CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) these days.
To: spokeshave
Traffic is a nightmare, so says the talking head. The 91 and 5 freeways have been shutdown.

Yes on the spike strip. They're at the 5 and the 91, which is way east of LAX.

Hah!
This guy's going nowhere. The rear tires are flat, he's surrounded by squad cars and K-9s, and the cops snuck up behind the bus and disconnected the battery.
To: Sabertooth
The dogs are continuing to bark, so says the TV news talking head...

Any passengers (hostages)?
To: Sabertooth
A LONG way from LAX. This is my old stomping grounds. Grew up in Fullerton, went to Buena Park High. This whole thing can't be too far from Knott's Berry Farm.
To: ambrose
Maybe he has an IT scooter ready to go...
Did they already bring out the lev-IT-ator?
He's 40 feet up!
To: vikingchick
Doesn't appear to be any hostages, but no one's saying definitively.
To: Sabertooth
This isn't as good as that tank chase in San Diego a few years ago...

Traffic's moving on the overpass above, so the must not suspect a bomb.
To: ambrose
Are the barking dogs indicative of explosives, drugs or what?
To: Sabertooth
This is better than that Blues Brothers Special Edition DVD that I was planning to watch
