"... you are a key grassroots member of the group that helps promote the policies we are trying to pass in Washington, D.C. ... your responsibilities will include calling elected officials, registering new voters, writing letters to the editor of local newspapers, and other activities."
- President George W. Bush
Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle (D-SD) believes the big-spending demands of the Senate's 18 most liberal members, one-third of the Democrat Caucus plus one independent, take priority over the consensus of a bipartisan majority of Senators who want to act now to pass the President's economic recovery plan to help America's unemployed and uninsured.
Daschle has said that "a majority plus one" wasn't enough for him to schedule a vote, but that two-thirds of the Democrat Caucus is "a pretty good figure." (CNN'S "Novak, Hunt & Shields," December 8, 2001). This means that the 18 most extreme liberals have veto power over anything moving in the Senate. Under this standard, the Senate would have been unable to pass historic bipartisan achievements like welfare reform and a balanced budget.
While the economic slowdown continues to take its toll, Senator Daschle has put the interests of his most liberal colleagues above the interests of America's out-of-work and uninsured families. Our workers need help now, not more partisan political point scoring from a small group of the Senate's most liberal members.
Daschle continues to say the Senate will not even consider an economic security bill unless it is approved by two-thirds of the Democrats in the Senate. That means as few as 18 liberals can block anything from moving in the Senate. It gives Ted Kennedy and Hillary Clinton absolute veto power over America's business.
The Obstructionists:
Tom Daschle and his gang of 18 liberal Senators blocking the President's economic recovery legislation:
Paul Wellstone (D-MN)
202-224-5641
Richard Durbin (D-IL)
202-224-2152
Tom Harkin (D-IA)
202-224-3254
Paul Sarbanes (D-MD)
202-224-4524
Barbara Mikulski (D-MD)
202-224-4654
Charles Schumer (D-NY)
202-224-6542
Jack Reed (D-RI)
202-224-4642
Edward Kennedy (D-MA)
202-224-4543
John Kerry (D-MA)
202-224-2742
Harry Reid (D-NV)
202-224-3542
Ron Wyden (D-OR)
202-224-5244
Patty Murray (D-WA)
202-224-2621
Byron Dorgan (D-ND)
202-224-2551
Russ Feingold (D-WI)
202-224-5323
Barbara Boxer (D-CA)
202-224-3553
Tom Daschle, (D-SD)
202-224-2321
John Edwards (D-NC)
202-224-3154
Patrick Leahy (D-VT)
202-224-4242
CALL THESE SENATORS NOW and tell them to stop holding your economic security hostage. They need to bring the bipartisan economic security plan to a vote in the Senate.
Sincerely,
Jack Oliver
Deputy Chairman
Republican National Committee

Calling Patty Murray to get her to support the Prez? I have more intelligent conversations with the empty shoe boxes in my wife's closet.

No, what we need is for the Bill to die. We need to send a thank you note to Daschle, and hope like heck that Bush doesn't cave, since I am not sure there is really that much of real substance keeping them apart at this point.

You're right - but it might help for her to hear from a State resident who want them to support the President's agenda. They are the ones our of touch with the American public.

Thanks PhiKap for that toll free # - I hope everyone will burn up the phone lines. I'm sick to death of Daschle (Clinton/McAuliffe) and gang working against this country.

Re: Daschle and the Stimulus Bill. I wonder if Time magazine will put Dasshole on the cover - as they did with Newt Gingrich - and call him the Grinch who stole Christmas? Anyone wanna bet?

Also just posted the ping list I have from the recent freeper activism for daschle/leahy for obstructing judicial appointments and Tax Cuts. I called daschle's office to ask how many calls he had received about being an obstructionists with judicial nominations and got the phone slammed in my ear. Guess the girl didn't appreciate my question! I guess I qualified for one of the vicious calls he has been getting! LOL!

I wrote President Bush to "Make The Speech"
I wrote both Senator John Warner (R-VA) and Senator George Allen (R-VA) to get a backbone and urge their colleagues to fight for their agenda.
Not much else I know to do.
I saw Senator Tom-ass Dasshole on the news this evening....it's funny that the anchor calls him "Senator Daschle", but calls the President "Mr. Bush".
I have a new name for Senator Tom-ass Dasshole: "Senator Disappointed" because he has said how "disappointed" he is many times in every interview I have ever seen him in.
He cannot allow the Senate to vote for anything that President Bush proposes because of how "disappointed" he is in everything President Bush wants....unless there is at least 60 Senators in favor of it.....which includes all nominations.

Two things. Why should a Senator care what I say unless I am a registered voter in their state? They probably don't. Right? And also, where's Hillary on that list?

That's why you call daschle who is Majority Leader of the entire Senate which means he represents you and me even though he is not my Senator. He speaks for the other 99 and two of those from OK do represent me!
My Congressman J.C. Watts is GOP Conference Chair and hears from people from all different states -- does he complain -- not on your life! Only whiney RATS complain when people contact them that do not live in their State.
As a matter of fact, these 18 Senators are holding up legislation that does affect me so I have a right as an American citizen to express my opinion to them. If they choose to ignore it fine, but at least I can take the time to let them know that I do not appreciate their obstructionists action and intend to support their opponent in the next election. If ms. clinton can come into OK to get campaign donations, then I certainly can choose to send a donation to the RATS opposition!!!!!!

Dashole looked like his rear was puckering up. I hear he's going on the morning shows to tell us how disappointed he is,oh boy!

The Dems don't want a recovery right now. It's too soon before the elections. If there's a recovery, which there probably will be anyway, Bush gets the credit. They would rather keep us "needy."
To: PhiKapMom
Thanks for the toll free numbers. I will definitely call these liberal senators to let them know how I feel.
