We're from the Government & Here to Protect You (from Yourself)

Posted on 12/21/2001 7:17:25 AM PST by texson66

I have lived in the Peoples' Republik of MD for 16 years now. I have to sadly report that the State of MD is giving the Federal Government a run for its money in ending personal freedoms. Here are several representative items that highlight this trend lead by our fearless furhrer, Paris Glendening:

Herr fureher

I cant order a hamburger "rare" in MD: IT HAS TO BE COOKED TO MEDIUM-WELL BY LAW (Ruby Tuesdays -Silver Spring)

An then there's smoking. I don't smoke, but smokers in the PRM are a vanishing species. If a Montgomery County law passes, a smoker who smokes in HIS OWN HOME could be arrested and fined if his smokes bothers the neighbors!

The next item is speed cameras. In the PRM we have plenty of red light cameras generating dough by the ton for the PRM and its counties and cities. But now speed cameras will ehance income...oh, its everything is safer now!

And to top it off PRMers must "respect" deviant behavior as well with the fuhrer's suppression of a state wide vote on a "gay" rights law! Talk about the tryanny of the minority!

TOPICS: Miscellaneous; Political Humor/Cartoons
KEYWORDS:
Is Herr fuhrer Glendening & the PRM a trend setter and leader in the US? FReepers, what other states are under this type of oppression?

Dear Texson66, you forgot to mention the mayor of Friendship Heights who pushed for the outdoor smoking ban there. Several weeks later, he was charged with molesting a young boy. So, to sum up, according to the mayor, smoking in public is bad, but molesting little boys is just hunky-dory. I stay out of Maryland as much as possible, although I have to say that Annapolis (except for the statehouse) and Anne Arundel County as a whole are more reasonable places than Montgomery County and PG County. I know all about Commie Glendenning and his cornies in the state capital. Used to live on the circle in Annapolis that surrounds the state capital. As a group, the state legislators of Maryland and all the lobbyists that hang on to them are the most dispicable people I have ever come into contact with.

California is not up to your standards, yet.

Give the radlibs in Marin, SF, Bezerkeley just a little more time.

P.S. BARF ALERT!

..., Boxer and Feinstein recorded among their lowest disapproval ratings.  Feinstein won high marks from 53 percent, while only 22 percent disapproved.  Forty-five percent approved of the job Boxer is doing, while only 24 percent disapproved.

Yeech!

I just escaped from the People's republic of California, and I can tell you that it is exactly the same there, except that the furher there is named Grey Davis, and his administration managed to take a $10 billion surplus and turn it into an enormous hole of tens of billions of dollars in debt. Oh, and English is pretty much obsolete in California, if you are going to live there you really should be fluent in Spanish, Hindi, Farsi, Urdu, Tagalog, Mandarian and Cantonese. Knowlege of Vietnamese, Laotian and Cambodian language is useful as well. Speaking English will only serve to mark you as one of the undesirables who is being expunged from the state.

I always wondered why there was a red star in the California state flag, now I know. It is because it has always had Communist ideals, and has now truly become the Communist state it has always dreamed of being. "As goes California, so goes the nation." God help us all.

I was planning on spend a few weeks this summer with my son who is in the military on the east coast. We were thinking of golfing at some of the golf courses along the coast and taking in the sights. I think we'll go to Mexico instead. At least I know what to stay clear of the law there.
