Before we vote .... lets see what he is charged with. It would be hard to vote for the death penalty if he is only charged with a misdemeanor, or worse yet, not charged with anything at all. (Something else to ponder .... another good reason that Al Gore wasn't elected President or you could count on Johnnie bin Walker getting a Presidential Pardon if Gore thought it would help his re-election chances in 2004!)

Go to the link...its clear what you're voting on - 1) harshest punishment or 2) a slap on the wrist a'la OJ

I saw something very interesting on the History Channel the other day about Rome. I found out that "thumbs down" saved the combatent to fight another day. The thumbs down signal meant lay down the weapon and let him live. On the other hand, "thumbs up" was a gesture to kill the loser. The actual thumbs up signal was brough up toward the throat and meant "kill him."
Just some interesting tidbits.

It doesn't look too good for ole Johnny. 7005 for the gallows, 1307 to put him on Larry King.

Perhaps post Patriot Act, this is naïve, but I would vote to have a trial.

Perhaps post Patriot Act, this is naïve, but I would vote to have a trial. ...and even to note during that trial that the kid is too young to drink in most states, which ought to give us some idea of how responsible for their decisions society (usually) thinks people his age are.
Oh, well, for pure unforgiving viciousness there's nothing like a bunch of Christian Patriots on a roll.

The simple fact is that if we do not kill our own terrorist traitor, few other nations that currently harbor terrorist killers will do much to sudute the terrorists in their land. After all those terrorists don't want to kill them, they want to kill us. If we won't take out people who want to kill us, then why should they.
How can we tell Syria or Somalia, or even Saudi to get rid of their terrorists if we won't take out our own? It is not Syriam, Somalia or Saudi that has anything to fear from the terrorists. It is we who are the terrorists targets.
All those people who want the poor misguided little Walker guy to live, sob sob, just might figure it out when other nations let terrorists surive to blow up the school our children attend or the college dorm where our daughters live, or the place where we work, travel, or shop.
When people are willing to die for the chance to kill you, you must kill the cause. You kill a cause by killing as many of those that support that cause as you can. Killing 100 percent of them does in deed provide for our future safety.
Letting those we catch live, is a good way to encourage those that we don't catch to kill us.
It is indeed Walker's life or yours.. And your choice is?

I agree with you 100%. You are a gentleman and a scholar.

It is indeed Walker's life or yours. And your choice is? I beg to differ. I do not think that Walker's continued existence has anything whatsoever to do with mine. Or my daughter's in her dorm room.( I like your sentimentalist attempt to cause fear, but I'll leave that to the Homeland Security czar.)
I am more frightened by the American's willingness to discard any semblance of judicial process. I have not seen any indication that Walker was engaged in anything treasonous whatsoever. As far as I can tell, the man had joined up in a civil war, in which his country of birth suddenly provided air support for the opposing side. Was he aware of that? If so what could he have done? Would a white flag have been visible from 27,000 ft? I think more needs to be known before one can come to the conclusions and offer the solutions that you would.
Used to be, the death penalty was employed to meet requirements of punishment or justice. Now, you suggest that " as an example," a life should be taken. The terrorists have won if we disgard the rule of law and cheapen our value of life itself.

It's been amusing to watch the Conservatives transform themselves into Tories.
