Hmmmm. I'm checking the posts, wires, web, cable news....and it appears that the world DID NOT end last night in Times Square or in India or anywhere.
Am I missing something or is all this Y2K+/'Gabriel is about to start tooting his horn' stuff all gone the way of the "Invincible Iraqi Republican Guard," the Taliban 55th brigade, and other bogeymen in the dark???
In other words, "Rumors of the world's demise are greatly exagerrated."

What? I heard the world did end and a lot of people are very, very unhappy about it. I think you better check your sources again for updates.

I don't think muslim terrorists act work on our calender. They attack on dates significant to them, not us.

Matthew 24
- 37
- But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
- 38
- For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
- 39
- And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Did you ever see the spoof, "Hardware Wars?" The part where the guy gives a complicated presentation to explain how to destroy the death star?

Ball Drops in Times Square, Ending Brutal Year for NYC, NationEnding?
The united states and its allies have had many great successes in the war on terrorism but to say its the end of a brutal year is something else.
My fears are that the brutal times are just beginning and i pray to the good lord above and in our hearts we will be strong enough as a nation to not only fight terrorism here but to keep our government in line with the peoples way of thinking and not have to fight our government as well to keep our freedoms intact

Taliban 55th brigadeEverytime I heard of this unit,I pictured a bunch of clowns spilling out of this tiny car with rainbow wigs and squirt flowers on the lapels. The leader of this unit would have a little horn ala the Marx brothers and they horse around squirting eachother before piling back in to their tiny little car and scurrying off.

What could be some significant dates? Anyone venture to guess?

Given that in basically 4 months since 9/11 Al Qaeda, in terms of US targets, has only managed to come up with one fairly stupid shoe bomber (and it's still not absolutely proven there is a direct link to Al Qaeda for that attack), that has to be fairly disconcerting to the "Deport all the Raghheads and Muslims/There are a Jillion-Billion Sleeper agents in the US!!!!" crowd.
It's abundantly clear that Al Qaeda had no particular sustained quick campaign of massive US attacks planned...and don't tell me they are "waiting for the best time" to strike. Nothing on Christmas, nothing on New Years Eve, Nothing really at the end of Ramadan.
And if the US is filled with sleepers why are they politely waiting while the FBI is arresting and detaining everyone in sight?
There will be more attack attempts but I suspect it will be on the typical Al Qaeda schedule of 6-12 months between them.

Supposedly, September 11, 1994, saw Bill Clinton sign a piece of airport security legislation into law. Haven't looked into it, but that's what I heard somewhere. Just a coincidence I guess.

There's not much evidence that specific dates are of much significance to Al Qaeda in planning attacks. It's more a question of just being ready and outside factors like weather. People WANT to believe that various Islamic or historical dates determine attacks, because it psychologically makes them less random.
