"Vote for me. I promise to do absolutely nothing and leave everyone the hell alone. You can keep your money and your liberty. My record and my entire career demonstrates a strong track record of doing nothing. Just ask my wife. I don't do the dishes, take out the garbage or mow the lawn... If you want nothing and don't want any Gubmint Cheese, 100% home financing from ACORN courtesy of the Community Reinvestment Act or handouts, I'm your candidate!."

I'm Eric Blair and I approved this retarded message.

"By definition, Progressives hate America. Why would any clear thinking, sane person want to change the greatest country that ever existed on the face of the Planet Earth? God Bless America. I owe this country everything. It owes me nothing."

Eric's Rates

I would like to thank the following liars, charlatans, hypocrites, tyrants and BS artists for helping me write my biography on FR: Center for Science in the Public Interest, Former US Surgeon General Carmona, John Kerry, Al Sharpton, Ted Kennedy, The LA Times, CBS, NBC, ABC, ACLU, Jane Fonda, Al Gore, Nancy Pelosi, Cindy Sheehan, NYC Mayor/RINO/Dictator/Monarch/Epidemiologist Mike Bloomberg, Harry Reid, ASH, ANR, Alter Kaker, Michael Moore, Rosie O'Donnell, Sean Penn, The New York Times, Alec Baldwin, the Iraqi Information Minister, George Clooney, Rob Reiner, Hillary Clinton and Durham DA Mike Nifong. Much like their lies, the following is all Bull...

Dr. Eric A. Blair, MD, PhD, MPH, DDS

After graduating 1st in my Class at the US Naval Academy with a degree in Nuclear Physics, I went on to serve as a Rear Admiral in Vietnam, where I served with many brave men. Then there was this assclown:

The story behind that first Purple Heart that he tells is all nonsense. His injury actually happened at a whorehouse in Saigon, where he was nearly suffocated by a 200 pound Vietnamese prostitute after a night of heavy drinking.

Afterwards me and my partner Al won a Nobel Prize in Science. Our idea was revolutionary at the time. We noticed that people were using their computers for mundane stuff like work and business. We thought, what if these computers can learn to "talk" with each other? Then they can use their computers for important stuff like porn, gambling, and chat rooms. Thus, the internet was born. Al is still pretty bitter that he inadvertantly created sites like Free Republic. I try to remind him that it's for the "greater good":

After graduating from Harvard Medical School, I won another Nobel Prize, in medicine, for my thesis paper analyzing the brain of left wing, Socialist Democrats versus right wing, Capitalist Republicans.

I am currently working on dissecting RINO brains. Any wishy, washy moderate FReeper or member of Congress who would like to participate can send me a private message. You will be eligible for free treatment and free medicine. I've already signed up Chuck Hagel.

_________________________________________________________________________

I'm a firm believer in right wing, limited government. The government does have some very important limited roles to fill in our lives:

Ensure a properly functioning free market economy that allows people to acquire STUFF for their family

Provide a strong armed forces to prevent foreign enemies from invading and taking our STUFF or blowing up our STUFF

Provide law enforcement and criminal justice to prevent other citizens from taking our STUFF or hurting us or our family

Guard the border to make sure illegal immigrants don't come in here and try to get STUFF

Build roads, highways, bridges and other transportation infrastructure so that we can move our STUFF from one place to another

Hire a limited number of bureaucrats to keep track of our STUFF

I'm also a staunch enemy of Big Brother and the nanny state. I am shocked at how many Conservatives of Convenience there are here. People who love Big Government when it benefits their personal comfort.

I'm here to help you and provide a public service for a fee. I am a fully trained psychologist specializing in Nanny State Behavior Syndrome (NSBS). This liberal, left wing, social engineering disease is horrible and can strike anyone at anytime. It can even strike Conservatives who believe in free markets and limited government.

Thankfully, Dr. Feel (a wholly owned subsiduary of Dr. Phil) is here to help you work through your problems.

Please answer the questionaire below, so I know how best to treat you. And please have your insurance card ready for the wallet biopsy. This is a Capitalist country and I don't work for free.

I discriminate against smokers because:

A. The smell of smoke is icky and yucky, it makes my hair and clothes stink and I hate walking into a bar/restaurant where people are smoking. So rather than take advantage of the free market and go somewhere that is voluntarily smoke free, I would rather use the power of the state to impose my personal preference on my fellow citizens.

B. My __________ (choose one: Dad, Mom, Uncle, Aunt, Grandfather, Grandmother, older sister, brother, babysitter, next door neighbor, mailman) abused me by smoking ________(choose one: Marlboro, Merit, Kool, crack, Camel, Kent, marijuana) in the __________ (choose one: house, car, bar, juvenile detention center) when I was a kid.

C. My beloved ___________ (choose one: husband, wife, father, mother, brother, sister, nephew, niece, uncle, aunt, maid, dog, cat, goldfish, gay lover) died from _________(choose one: cancer, heart disease, emphysema, car crash, train wreck, terrorist attack, sting ray) because of their smoking.

D. I smoked for _____ (years) and now I am ________ (choose one: missing it, sick, dead, born again, enlightened, ashamed of myself, if I can't do it, nobody can) and want to share my experience with others.

E. The Big Tobacco companies are lying scumbags and must pay! (you're not coming down off the mountain with the tablets there)

F. I represent Big Pharmaceutical interests that benefit from the anti-smoking movement because it increases the sales of our Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) products.

G. I am a deeply caring individual in the mold of Mother Theresa and I am speaking out due to my benevolent, philanthropic, altruistic concern about the health of my fellow man.

H. I am a research scientist and grant junky, and if I don't tow the party line my grant money will disappear.

I. I'm just a garden variety Fascist and Totalitarian and get a ______ (choose one: cheap thrill, natural high, erection, orgasm) by imposing my will on other people.

J. I am a retard who believes in bogus studies, junk science, the Easter Bunny and the Toothfairy. I fear that because I walked into a bar on Spring Break in 1987, and was exposed to Second Hand Smoke I now suffer from ______(choose one: AIDS, Herpes, Athletes Foot, Jock Itch, male pattern baldness, or genital warts)

K. I am a disgruntled, prissy and angry employee of a ______(choose one: bar, restaurant, club, casino) who can't leave the job because I am a _______(choose one: slave, indentured servant, sweatshop laborer, illegal immigrant) and had no idea there was smoking going on in the place before I took the job.

L. An elected public serpent, serving as a _____ (choose one: State Assemblywoman, Senator, Freeholder, city councilman, mayor) and I have failed miserably in my job and trying to tackle really tough problems like _____ (choose one: gang violence, income taxes, property taxes, crime, corruption), so I will support a smoking ban based on the talking points and literature that "Q" has given me and claim that I have actually accomplished something to help my constituents.

M. An elected public serpent, serving as a _____ (choose one: State Assemblywoman, Senator, Freeholder, city councilman, mayor) and I have failed miserably in my job and trying to tackle really tough problems like _____ (choose one: gang violence, income taxes, property taxes, crime, corruption), and I have no idea what L means. I just want your money because alls yours moneys is belongs to us.

N. I am a Religious Fundamentalist who believes that smoking is strictly forbidden in the ______(choose one: Qu'ran, Bible, Torah, Old Testament, New Testament, David Wells' autobiography "Perfect I'm Not", Hustler Magazine)

O. A Socialist liberal Democrat who is desperate for Universal Healthcare so the proletariet will continue to keep me in power. But if I don't do something about the "demand side" health care costs caused by such global health menaces as _________ (choose one: Marlboro, Merit, Kool, Big Macs, Whoppers, Chicken McNuggets, Budweiser, Coors, Jack Daniels) my health care entitlement program will go ________ (choose your adjective: broke, belly up, bankrupt, insolvent).

P. I'm an anal retentive neat freak and can't stand the sight of cigarette butts littering my ______(Choose one: street, playground, yard, beach, sidewalk, sewer)

Q. A professional anti-tobacco activist who makes $450,000 per year. MY GOAL IS TO REDUCE SMOKING RATES FROM 25% TO BELOW 10%. KICKING THEM OUT OF THEIR FAVORITE BAR AND RESTAURANT IS JUST A SMALL STEP TO COERCE THEM TO QUIT. I DON'T EVEN BELIEVE THE SHS NONSENSE MYSELF! Don't you dare try to ban cigarettes, if you do I will have to go back to my previous job ______(choose one: prostitute, drug dealer, pimp, state assemblyman, mayor) where I won't make nearly as much money and the bank will foreclose on my seaside villa and repo my _______(choose one: Lexus, Mercedes, BMW, Hummer, Infiniti, Acura,Jaguar, Volvo, Bentley). I take advantage of the prejudices of categories A-P above to accomplish my goal.

R. I don't fit any of the above categories, I just like to argue with people.

Fascists always begin by targeting an unpopular and persecuted minority while other citizens say "Good, I didn't like those people anyway."; They had no idea that they were next. When you give government the power to go after something you hate, you also give them the power to go after something that you love.

When they came to ban the female mammary gland from TV, I did not speak out, because Brian Boitano told me not to.

When they came for the marijuana smokers, I did not speak out, as I was not a marijuana smoker.

When they came for the steroid users, I did not speak out, as I was not a steroid user.

When they came for the _______ (insert nominally objectionable behavior here), I did not speak out as I was not a _________ (fill in the blank).

When they came for the fireworks buyer, I did not speak out, as I just sat on my lawn chair and watched the State sponsored 4th of July event

When they came for the pornographers, I did not speak out, as I was not a pornographer.

When they came for the people who don't wear seatbelts, I did not speak out, as I always wore my seatbelt.

When they came for the gun owners, I did not speak out, as I was not a gun owner.

When they came for the gamblers, I did not speak out, as I was not a gambler.

When they came for the "polluters", I did not speak out as I was not a polluter.

When they came for the SUV drivers, I did not speak out, as I did not drive an SUV.

When they came for the cigarette smokers, I did not speak out, as I was not a smoker.

When they came for the overweight and the obese, I did not speak out, as I was not overweight or obese.

When they came for the drinkers (again), I did not speak out, as I was not a drinker.

Then they came for me...and there was nobody left to speak out.

I am also a staunch opponent of Socialism, Communism, Collectivism and wealth redistribution. It's been tried and it doesn't work. See the Soviet Union, China, Vietnam, North Korea, Cuba, California and New York.

Class warfare invariably leads to situations like the Duke Lacrosse case:

The wise words of my adopted Grandfathers:

"What most people really object to when they object to a free market is that it is so hard for them to shape it to their own will. The market gives people what the people want instead of what other people think they ought to want. At the bottom of many criticisms of the market economy is really lack of belief in freedom itself. The essence of political freedom is the absence of coercion of one man by his fellow men. The fundamental danger to political freedom is the concentration of power. The existence of a large measure of power in the hands of a relatively few individuals enables them to use it to coerce their fellow men. Preservation of freedom requires either the elimination of power where that is possible, or its dispersal where it cannot be eliminated. It essentially requires a system of checks and balances, like that explicitly incorporated in our Constitution..."

-- Milton Friedman, The New Liberal's Creed: Individual Freedom, Preserving Dissent Are Ultimate Goals," May 18, 1961

"There are four ways in which you can spend money. You can spend your own money on yourself. When you do that, why then you really watch out what you’re doing, and you try to get the most for your money. Then you can spend your own money on somebody else. For example, I buy a birthday present for someone. Well, then I’m not so careful about the content of the present, but I’m very careful about the cost. Then, I can spend somebody else’s money on myself. And if I spend somebody else’s money on myself, then I’m sure going to have a good lunch! Finally, I can spend somebody else’s money on somebody else. And if I spend somebody else’s money on somebody else, I’m not concerned about how much it is, and I’m not concerned about what I get. And that’s government. And that’s close to 40% of our national income."

---Milton Friedman

"If you analyze it I believe the very heart and soul of conservatism is libertarianism. I think conservatism is really a misnomer just as liberalism is a misnomer for the liberals–if we were back in the days of the Revolution, so-called conservatives today would be the Liberals and the liberals would be the Tories. The basis of conservatism is a desire for less government interference or less centralized authority or more individual freedom and this is a pretty general description also of what libertarianism is. Now, I can’t say that I will agree with all the things that the present group who call themselves Libertarians in the sense of a party say, because I think that like in any political movement there are shades, and there are libertarians who are almost over at the point of wanting no government at all or anarchy. I believe there are legitimate government functions. There is a legitimate need in an orderly society for some government to maintain freedom or we will have tyranny by individuals. The strongest man on the block will run the neighborhood. We have government to insure that we don’t each one of us have to carry a club to defend ourselves. But again, I stand on my statement that I think that libertarianism and conservatism are travelling the same path".

--Ronald Reagan

Inside Ronald Reagan: A Reason Interview from July 1975

"Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience."

--C.S. Lewis

The mysterious words of my eccentric adopted Uncle:

"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who in the name of charity and goodwill shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."
Gospel of Jules 2:16

The Eric Blair Mandatory Reading and Evidence Pile

If you want to influence public policy, here are 6 Easy Steps listed in the "Dummies Guide to Socialism".

STEP 1: Take the studies that agree with your position over to Kinkos and put them in a nice, fancy, bound presentation.

STEP 2: Throw the ones that don't support your pre-conceived conclusion into a fireplace.

STEP 3: Present your conclusions to a bunch of left wing media outlets like the LA Times, NY Times, USA Today, AP, ABC, NBC, CBS

STEP 4: Get left wing Big Government liberal Democrat politicians who love social engineering and hate free markets to introduce legislation to tell previously free citizens what legal activities they can engage in on private property.

STEP 5: Get unceremoniously dumped on your ass like Carmona when people realize you're full of crap, and go work at a health spa in Arizona.

STEP 6: Repeat as necesary.

1993 ASSIST Study (American Stop Smoking Intervention Study) : Let's start from the beginning. If you need proof that high tobacco excise taxes, smoking bans, and systematic state sponsored discrimination are designed to COERCE smokers into quitting and nothing else, just read the anti-tobacco playbook.

"Over a decade of research by the National Cancer Institute has shown that the most effective way to reduce smoking rates is to decrease public tolerance of tobacco use through changes in policy, accompanied by media and educational programs."

"Changing the public acceptance of tobacco use will require policy change, a critical ingredient of societal change."

"The recent release of the EPA report on ETS provides the necessary justification to potential opposition, i.e. restaurant owners, small business owners, and smokers for requiring workplaces to eliminate the health hazard of ETS in the workplace."

Let's take a closer look at the bogus EPA report. Frankly, every American should be outraged and scared that our Government (who work for us) would let one of their agencies issue deliberate lies....

Get on the bus Junior...you're going to school!

The United States Federal Court Decision by Judge Osteen: Read the whole thing for yourself here.

If you'd rather watch a Discovery Channel special on the African Dung Beetle before reading a legal opinion, than the Readers' Digest Cliff Note version will do.

Excerpts from Judge Osteen’s July 18, 1998, 90 page-plus Memorandum Opinion appear below:

a.) On page 73 Judge Osteen specifically referenced EPA’s use of a 90 percent confidence level in place of the customary 95 percent:

“The first contention is EPA switched, without explanation, from using standard 95% confidence intervals to 90% confidence intervals to enhance the likelihood that its meta-analysis would appear statistically significant. This shift assisted EPA in obtaining statistically significant results. Studies that are not statistically significant are "null studies"; they cannot support a Group A classification. See Brock v. Merrell Dow Pharm., Inc., 874 F.2d 307, 312 (5th Cir. 1989) ("If the confidence interval is so great that it includes the number 1.0, then the study will be said to show no statistically significant 'association between the factor and the disease."). EPA used a 95% confidence interval in the 1990 Draft ETS Risk Assessment, but later switched to a 90% confidence interval. Most prominently, this drew criticism from IAQC's epidemiologist, who was also a contributor to the ETS Risk Assessment: The use of 90% confidence intervals, instead of the conventionally used 95% confidence intervals, is to be discouraged. It looks like a[n] attempt to achieve statistical significance for a result which otherwise would not achieve significance.” (Underline added.)

b.) On page 72 Judge Osteen’s conclusions included a statement that EPA cherry-picked data:

“EPA's study selection is disturbing. First, there is evidence in the record supporting the accusation that EPA "cherry picked" its data. Without criteria for pooling studies into a meta- analysis, the court cannot determine whether the exclusion of studies likely to disprove EPA's a priori hypothesis was coincidence or intentional. Second, EPA's excluding nearly half of the available studies directly conflicts with EPA's purported purpose for analyzing the epidemiological studies and conflicts with EPA's Risk Assessment Guidelines. See ETS Risk Assessment at 4-29 ("These data should also be examined in the interest of weighing all the available evidence, as recommended by EPA's carcinogen risk assessment guidelines (U.S. EPA, 1986a) (emphasis added)). Third, EPA's selective use of data conflicts with the Radon Research Act. The Act states EPA's program shall "gather data and information on all aspects of indoor air quality.”

c.) On page 60 Judge Osteen concluded that it was possible EPA adopted different methodologies for each chapter based on the outcome desired:

“The court is faced with the ugly possibility that EPA adopted a methodology for each chapter, without explanation, based on the outcome sought in that chapter. This possibility is most potent where EPA rejected MS-ETS similarities to avoid a "cigarette-equivalents" analysis in determining carcinogenicity of ETS exposure. Use of cigarette-equivalents analysis may have lead to a conclusion that ETS is not a Group A carcinogen." It is striking that MS and ETS were similar only where such a conclusion promoted finding ETS a carcinogen.” (Underline added.)

Color coded summary of results of every study ever conducted on Second Hand Smoke, proving there is no risk : Golly gee willikers, how could these studies and the biggest one ever done (see next link) NOT make it into the Surgeon General report? See "Idiots Guide to Socialism Above"

Environmental tobacco smoke and tobacco related mortality in a prospective study of Californians, 1960-98 by James E Enstrom and Geoffrey C Kabat: This was the longest and most thorough study ever done on ETS. It was originally funded by the precursor to the American Cancer Society in the 60's. When they realized a few years ago that the results were not what they wanted to hear, they abruptly cut off funding for the study. Enstrom and Kabat had to go to the tobacco companies to finish their research. A fact that the Smoke Nazi's are quick to pounce on in order to discredit their research. Of course, the fact that much of the "research" that claims ETS is harmful is funded by pharmaceutical companies is irrelevant.

The Report WHO didn't want you to see: Apparently this study that was commissioned by the World Health Organization proving there is no link between ETS and cancer, accidentally fell behind a secretary's desk or ended up in the wastepaper basket next to the overturned coffee grinds.

Mayor Bloomberg Exaggerates Secondhand Smoke Risk Dr. Elizabeth M. Whelan, Sc.D., M.P.H.; Amercian Council on Science and Health

"Who exactly are these 1,000 New Yorkers whose deaths Mayor Bloomberg claims will be prevented by his legislation? If, as we suspect, he is referring to deaths caused by exposure to secondhand smoke in restaurants and bars, the estimate of 1,000 deaths prevented is patently absurd. Our best estimate of the number of deaths prevented is somewhere between zero and a hypothetical ten to fifteen. There is no evidence that any New Yorker — patron or employee — has ever died as a result of exposure to smoke in a bar or restaurant."

The Surgeon General's Report Blows Smoke Dr. Elizabeth M. Whelan, Sc.D., M.P.H.; Amercian Council on Science and Health

Smoker Bans Devastate Local Bars and Taverns : Don't take my word for it, ask them yourself. You're entitled to your own opinion, but you are not entitled to your own facts. If you're wrong and smoker bans put hardworking Americans out of business, you lose nothing, and they lose everything.

Bridging the Ideological Divide: An Analysis of Views on Tobacco Policy By Elizabeth M. Whelan, Sc.D., M.P.H., Gilbert Ross, M.D., Clifford E. Douglas, Esq., Alicia M. Lukachko, M.P.H.: In the interest of expediency, before anyone wastes our time with the inevitable "What does tobacco control have to do with left wing or right wing political ideology?", read this. The American Council on Science and Health, a group of Republican physicians featured in the Wall Street Journal recommended sites, conducted the most thorough study of political ideology as it relates to "tobacco control". The results were obvious to anyone paying attention. Don't misunderstand. They are vehemently opposed to smoking and encourage people to quit. But they disagree with the lies, hyperbole, scare tactics and social engineering that are typical of the the left's "ends justify the means" philosophy.

The Bogus 'Science' of Secondhand Smoke:It has been fashionable to ignore the weakness of "the science" on secondhand smoke, perhaps in the belief that claiming "the science is settled" will lead to policies and public attitudes that will reduce the prevalence of smoking. But such a Faustian bargain is an ominous precedent in public health and political ethics. Consider how minimally such policies as smoking bans in bars and restaurants really reduce the prevalence of smoking, and yet how odious and socially unfair such prohibitions are.

Where's the Consensus on Secondhand Smoke? :"According to the manual, nearly all the studies cited in Carmona's report wouldn't pass muster in a court of law because they are observational studies, the sample sizes are too small, or the effects they show are too negligible to be reliable."

Reference Manual on Scientific Evidence, Second Edition :

"the threshold for concluding that an agent was more likely than not the cause of an individual's disease is a relative risk greater than 2.0."

Besides Richard Moorehead, name one other person who has been killed by Second Hand Smoke. He is the only documented case to date.

Man’s Impending Death To Be Caused By Second Hand Smoke

Atlanta, Ga. July 13, 2007– In a joint press conference on Friday, the World Health Organization and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that the premature death of a Montana man will be caused by exposure to Second Hand Smoke.

“After extensive conversation with the SAMMEC computers and after long and grueling hours of torturing the data until it told us what we want to hear, we are finally prepared to definitively state that Richard Mooreheads’ death will be a direct result of his exposure to Second Hand Smoke.” Said WHO Director-General Dr. Margaret Chan “We can find no other logical reason for Mr. Moorehead's soon to be tragic demise other than his exposure to SHS.”

The soon to be deceased Mr. Moorehead, 54, an unemployed HIV positive, type 2 diabetic, MS, ALS and kidney dialysis patient who is addicted to crystal meth and heroin, was shocked and visibly angry when told of his diagnosis and cause of death. Reached at his home in an exclusive gated trailer park community in Missoula, MT, Mr. Moorehead blamed his impending death on the careless brutes with cigarettes down at Jim’s Roadhouse Bar on Highway 263. “I’ve never smoked tobacco in my life. But that darn Jim’s Bar was always filled with that there smoke.”

Second Hand Smoke, also known as environmental tobacco smoke (ETS) is a mixture of the smoke given off by the burning end of a cigarette, pipe or cigar and the smoke exhaled from the lungs of a smoker. It causes an estimated 450,000 deaths per day, according to health authorities, Al Gore and Dionne Warwick’s Psychic Friends Network. It’s also been known to cause AIDS, herpes, hemorrhoids, athlete’s foot and jock itch.

I do not like these smoking bans.
I do not like them Sam I am.
I do not like them in a bar,
I do not like them in a car,
I do not like them on a plane,
I do not like them an a train,
I do not like them here or there,
I do not like them anywhere.
I do not like these smoking bans.
I do not like them Sam I am.

Why not just ban tobacco completely? : This is a question that has been asked by FReepers with common sense. If it is so horrible and kills the consumer and everyone around them, how could the Gubmint continue to allow it? Everyone here knows the answer. In 2003, Rep. Michael Grosz, R-Grand Forks, a North Dakota Assemblyman introduced a bill to ban the sale of tobacco products in the state. Who showed up to speak against the proposal? Philip Morris? No. RJR? No. Convenience store owners? No. SheLion? No. Gabz? No. Me? No....The American Cancer Society, American Lung Association, and the North Dakato Medical Association!! Why? You guessed it...no tobacco = no money for them.

Heartland Smokers Lounge

Them: The one group for whom liberals have no tolerance at all. : Peggy Noonan in the Wall Street Journal.

"I think it is an insufficiently commented-upon irony that cigarette prohibition and the public shaming it entails is the work of modern liberals. They're supposed to be the ones who are nonjudgmental, who live and let live, but they approach smoking like Carry Nation with her ax. Conservatives on the other hand let you smoke. They acknowledge sin and accept imperfection. Also most of them are culturally inclined toward courtesy of the old-fashioned sort."

Smoke and Mirrors: News from The Hill by the American Conservative Union

"It is fair to say that most of those who make up the core of the anti-smoking lobby are ideological liberals and partisan Democrats."Their justification for most smoking bans has been their innate concern for everyone’s health, and their argument for extending such bans to private establishments has been that those who work in establishments that tolerate smoking are put at risk by their employment there.

Given that rationale, I found it interesting that these very same liberal Democrats who think it reasonable to enjoin the rest of us from lighting up in restaurants and private clubs had far less concern for the health and well-being of those who choose to work at the Democratic National Club, which, it now transpires, is the one private club in the District that has apparently decided simply to defy the ban."

Let's have a toast! Now that the smelly smokers are gone from the bar, we can have a few pints without that annoying, stinky smell of tobacco smoke. We're fine. The Government never has and never will go after alcohol....NOT!

Behind the Neo-Prohibition Campaign The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation: The Center For Consumer Freedom will help to explain why non-smokers who like Sam Adams or Jimmy Beam have nothing to worry about. It's not as if RWJF, a key group behind the anti-tobacco crusade, has them in their sights. You can rest easy.

Colleges are reaching their limit on alcohol : You're in the stands watching the USC-UCLA game at the Rose Bowl. How about an ice cold beer? Bwa,ha,ha,ha,ha!!!! Not for you my friend. Don't be surprised when you go to the Ballpark to watch your favorite team in the future and find no beer for sale. Can't say I didn't warn you.

Anheuser-Busch Urged to Abandon "Idiotarod" Beer Promotion :Anheuser-Busch should drop its sponsorship of a Washington, D.C. charity event called the "Idiotarod," organized by a local group that goes by the acronym "SMASHED," according to the nonprofit Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI). The March 3 event, in which young people are urged to acquire shopping carts and drink beer in one bar after another, is in clear violation of the Beer Institute's Advertising and Marketing Code, which prohibits marketing which encourages rapid or excessive beer drinking or drinking games, according to the group.

Bud Light presents: "REAL MEN OF GENIUS"

(Real men of genius)

Today we salute you, Mr. Idiotarod Shopping Cart Racer!

(Mr. Idiotarod Shopping cart racer)

Sure, others use their shopping carts to carry their milk, eggs and groceries to the checkout counter...

(debit or credit?)

But you have found an even more ingenious use...

Racing other drunken idiots down the streets of Washington DC while dodging taxis, bike messengers and another fellow drunk, Ted Kennedy in his BMW...

(watch out for Teddy)

Wearing a dog harness, and a g-string and bow tie, you rampage down the sidewalks pulling a shopping cart with an alcohol to blood content of .89

(oooh, I feel a little woozy)

Homeless people, bag ladies, pedestrians, small children and animals are no match for your oncoming assault.

(get the hell out of my way)

So crack open an ice cold Bud Light, oh Dale Earnhardt Jr of the shopping carts, because when our car breaks down, we won't call AAA or AA, we'll call you...

(Mr. Idiotarod Shopping cart racer)

John Banzhaf; Using Legal Action Against Obesity: When John Banzhaf talks, people listen. You remember him, he was the brilliant legal mind who 30 years ago only wanted some non-smoking sections on airplanes. If you believe that all the food police want are just a ban on trans fat, than I have something I'd like to sell you on EBay:

For sale by owner. One bridge. Mint condition. A classic. $3,800 or best offer.

Girl Scout Cookies Boycott Called by National Action Against Obesity : As America's child and adult obesity figures rise, National Action Against Obesity (NAAO), calls for a boycott of the reported $700 million in Girl Scout Cookies sold annually. Profiting off cookies -- it's the wrong message, the wrong product and the wrong era. Girl Scouts have an economic, medical and moral imperative to dump junk food as their $700 million fundraising source. NAAO would like the Girl Scouts to commit to a 5-year plan transitioning away from junk food as the organization's primary fundraiser "Girl Scout Cookies are high-calorie, high-sugar, high in saturated fat and nearly devoid of nutrition. Using young girls as a front to push millions of cookies onto an already bloated population further exacerbates an alarming crisis, no matter how cute the uniforms are," said NAAO President MeMe Roth. "The Girl Scouts sell up to 200 million boxes yearly -- that's about one box for every overweight American."

Big Brother Will See You Now : Dr. Elizabeth Whelan from ACSH will explain in serious terms where this is all headed...

"Earlier this year in New York City, a public health regulation went into effect that set a new and very troublesome precedent, one that insinuates government agencies into personal medical matters. In mid-January, the City began legally requiring laboratories that do medical testing to report to the Health Department the results of blood sugar tests for city residents with diabetes -- along with the names, age, and contact information on those patients."

"When the government's phone calls and letters nagging people to eat better, quit smoking, and be more physically active don't work, the next phase of the war on chronic disease may be a harshly punitive one, with fines and other restrictions on those who fail to heed the health warnings. The message will be: live a healthy life or the government will punish you."

SpongeBob Indicted for Thought Crimes!: Anyone who watches the Nickelodeon (VIA ) cartoon SpongeBob Squarepants knows that the cute title character is absorbent and bright yellow. But how flexible is he? That question is being put to the test these days as his valuable brand equity is stretched between those who want the popular character used to promote health, fitness, and nutrition to children, and those who see him as the perfect pitch-sponge for fatty, salty, sugary food that kids love to eat.

How to Cure Health Care; By Milton Friedman

Photobucket

Readers Digest Version for liberal bloggers and White House and Congressional radical Socialists who claim Conservatives and Libertarians don't have a plan. We have one, you just don't like the idea that you wouldn't control it.

1. Repeal the tax exemption for employer provided medical care.
2. Terminate Medicare and Medicaid
3. Provide every American citizen with catastrophic insurance. Major medical with a high deductible.
4. Increase the use of tax free Medical Savings Accounts.
5. Deregulate insurance so that consumers can shop for a la carte coverage across State lines.*

*The plan above was the work of Milton Friedman, a Nobel Prize in Economics winner. I know what you are thinking...he won a Nobel prize, so did algore, Barack Fitzgerald Obama, Paul "I plagiarized Keynes" Krugman, Yasser Arafat and Jimmy Carter. It means nothing.

The following is the editorial opinion of a jackass with a modem like me with a BA in Economics (that and 50 cents will buy me a NY Post). I'm not fit to shine Milton Friedmans' shoes but I just added this addendum and footnote to his ideas since he is "dead" physically. Although he is very much alive since he influenced so many people like me...

1. Employer provided healthcare is an unintended consequence of the WW2 era wage and price controls imposed by libs like FDR. You couldn't offer a talented person a higher salary so they offered healthcare coverage. It's a dinosaur.

2. I may be a libertarian free market disciple but I'm not blind to political realities. I realize that any public serpent who suggests doing away with Medicare in a town hall meeting would be sodomized by a cane and be clobbered in the head by a walker. Even Milton Friedman advocated that it be grandfathered for existing beneficiaries. If nothing is done, it will be broke anyway.

3. We would never have to hear..."people are going bankrupt because they don't have health insurance."

4. The only good idea to come out of Congress in years.

5. Why should a single healthy 24 year old man have to pay for coverage that includes OB/GYN and mammograms?

"I haven't thought it through all together in terms of the legality of it. From a health standpoint, heck yeah, it makes sense."

"There are a lot of things pregnant women shouldn't do. That's just one of them. The point is, if you're going to make that against the law you're probably going to have to extend it to all the other things that are equally unhealthy for the child."

----Mike Huckabee on the Arkansas lawmakers proposed ban on smoking by pregnant women a few months after he threw taxpaying citizens of Arkansas who smoke out into the cold and rain

Arkansas Lawmakers Consider Banning Smoking by Pregnant Women

Today we salute you, Mr. Mike Huckabee paid FR campaign shill!

...(Mr. Mike Huckabee paid FR campaign shill)

What does a liberal Republican do when he is afraid to face grass roots conservatives himself? He pays his coffee and errand boy minimum wage to do it for him

...(skim milk with three sweet and lows)

Sitting in a cubicle at campaign headquarters you search Conservative websites like the NY Times, Washington Post, LA Times, Salon, CNN and Daily Kos looking for favorable articles about the Huckster to post on FR

...(oooh, here's one from DU!)

Armed with nothing but talking points from Hucks' website, you attempt to convince conservatives that your candidate is not a Christian socialist or a pro-life Democrat

...(Jesus would want amnesty for illegals)

When FReepers say Huck is a fiscal liberal, algore loving environmental wacko, open border amnesty pusher, violent criminal pardoner, Jimmy Carter foreign policy appeaser, nanny state smoker banner you provide the brilliant original response...a link to his campaign website

...(copy, paste, copy, paste)

Conservatives? We don't need no stinkin' Conservatives!

...(Highly overrated)

All we need is a leftist who is pro-life, has an R next to his name, and talks about Jesus.

...(Praise the Lord!)

So crack open an ice cold Bud Light, oh Karl Rove of the blogosphere, because when a FReeper runs for office, we'll be calling you...

Today we salute you, Mr. Power Hungry Hypocrite Leftist Authoritarian Bully

...(Mr. Power Hungry Hypocrite Leftist Authoritarian Bully)

In your quest for higher political office and power you prosecuted everyone and ruined people in order to make a name for yourself...

...(You're an f'ing steamroller!)

Investment banks, research analysts, insurance companies, Native American tobacco retailers, $20 street hookers, jaywalkers, ticket scalpers, people who rip tags off mattresses, your mother

...(You're all going to jail)

The only person within a 500 mile radius you forgot to prosecute was yourself

...(Somebody convene a Grand Jury)

Other funny looking annoying rich men have to spend millions buying beautiful women condos, furs, BMW's, diamonds or proposing marriage in exchange for sex

...(where is the M3 convertible?)

You managed to get beautiful women by paying a miserly $80,000 for prostitutes over 10 years and risking criminal prosecution and public shame

...(Worth every penny)

Sure all pigs are created equal...but some pigs are more equal than others.

...(You're a special piece of pork!)

So crack open an ice cold Bud Light, oh $5,500 per hour call girl Governor...because the only people who were screwed here were the tax paying citizens

"A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.

The average age of the worlds greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage."
