My brother is the smarter of the two of us but I've always been the mover & shaker, deal closer, and go-to guy. We both know "a few people" in the National, Texas, and Florida GOP inner circles, if you know what I mean. I work hard, play hard, and meet all my responsibilities because I only require 4-5 hours sleep every day, rarely get sick and live a very healthy life, and have an outstanding staff and support infrastructure. While I may appear over-the-top to some people I have very conservative internal roots. Since birth I have been an against-the-grain and an outside-the-box person and I always will be. I relocated from Houston to Miami-Key Biscayne eight years ago for business, personal, and State & Local GOP reasons. Frankly, South Florida fits my personality and business better than South Texas primarily because of my educated and diverse international background. We also have some of the hottest women in the world here in the "American Riviera", but I only waste one eye. I love living on an ocean island off the mainland. It’s very relaxing plus when I am not power boating I am sailing. I’m heavily addicted to both forms of boating. I joined Free Republic in 2003 because of the Terry Schindler Schiavo legal fiasco (FR Threads), in which I have extensive knowledge of this legal and political case. In my book, the shining moment for this site and members was when they were instrumental in assisting to rollover Governor Jeb Bush and the Florida Legislature when they would not do the right thing and stand up for that poor women against her scum of the earth husband. I stated going in, to a wealthy Palm Beach group I was representing (we arm twisted the Governor's Office and key State Legislatures), that there was a very low chance of saving Terry's life but I felt it was still worth an aggressive fight. Had it not been a Florida legal venue Terry would still be alive today. The primary thing I enjoy about Free Republic is that there are a number of very impressive and intelligent people here that apply themselves in life. Alright, I admit it, I also get a kick out of the many funny FR altered photos. We’ve got some real pro’s here *LOL*. Above all, I care deeply about our great Country. However, I am extremely disappointed with the direction of the National Republican Party and I now loathe Federal politics. The Republic Party has been seriously diminished by self interests and personal corruption at the Federal level. It is time for all Republicans, that still love our great Country, to ban together and fight to return our Party to it core principles and beliefs. Please accept my sincere apology if I have not replied.  Oct 24, 2005, 7:30 pm - Before and after Hurricane Wilma caused the largest power outage in Miami-Dade's history. Key Biscayne took the biggest South Florida Atlantic side hit from Hurrican Wilma with 123 mph maximum sustained winds, 155 mph gusts winds recorded on the island after she re-intensified over the South Florida Everglades on her west to east track. For Key Biscayne, damage from Wilma was much worse than from Hurricane Andrew. I had over $30,000 damages to my residence (could have been much worse) but only minor damage to our law office building in downtown Miami. For Miami-Dade county, Wilma caused the worst outage in history with 98% of it 2.3 million people without power. Oh well, no one holds a gun to people's head to live in a high risk hurricane zone. Weather was much more problematic than the three NASCAR races we attended at Daytona International Speedway last month. The first day of qualifying was rained out, the second day was overcast, high humidity, and significant cross track winds. For Sunday’s eliminations the weather was great – sunny, low 80’s, low humidity, and low winds. The track was good but the nitro, and even some of the pro stock teams, had problems getting down the track due to the major changes in weather conditions between Saturday and Sunday. In the first round of eliminations, Tony Pedregon's brother, Cruz, experienced a major explosion and fire after his Funny Car's throttle hung wide-open at the end of his 310+ mph run - Article, Photos, Video. Amazingly he won the race, his crew was able to rebuild the car, and Cruz ran a great second round of eliminations, but lost. Brother Tony, recovered from burn injuries resulting from a huge season opener top-end explosion and serious fire, won Top Fuel Funny Car. I have been a NHRA member for 19 years and hold a Top Alcohol dragster certification license from Frank Hawley's Drag Racing School, which I attended in Gainesville, Florida (home of the legendary NHRA Gatornationals). Didn't take the class and learn to drive to start NHRA racing. I did it because driving a top competition dragster was something that my whole life I've always wanted to do, more for the mental challenge than personal ego. I'm also seriously into motor racing technology and engineering which is the reason I like the NHRA Top Fuel classes. For example, superchargers are heavily utilized in offshore superboat engine technology. My partner and I boat has two engines with two superchargers per engine for a total output of 2,350 horsepower. This may sound like a large amout of horsepower but it's not for a 42 foot five tons superboat. Someday I want to try my hand at driving a Top Fuel dragster because they reach top speeds 50-60 miles per hour greater than a TA dragster and a nitromethane engine is a whole different animal from a methanol (methylalcohol) engine. While I greatly enjoy Funny Cars and drag bikes, I've never had any interest in learning to drive either one. Another motor sport I greatly enjoy is NASCAR supertrack racing at Daytona International Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway, which I have attended 19 races at the two facilities. This year will be my third time to attend the Formula 1 Grand Prix de Monaco. I promised my girlfriend I would take her since she has never been to Monte Carlo and I needed to put some "jelly beans back in the jar" for all my GOP politics she has had to tolerate. During high season top yacht's from around the world port here with top lease rates running $350,000 per week. For the last four years, top yacht lease rates are higher here than Monaco's high season. Want a ride in one of the top superboats that prowl the local waters? That costs $2,500 - $10,000 depending on how long you want to be out, where you want to go, and how fast you want to get there.
