I post from a Constitutional Federalist position. Conservative, Liberal and Libertarian are philosophical points of view. None posits a legislative perspective. Philosophy can inspire but it can not fix the roads.

The Separation of Powers is the most brilliant concept ever devised by men seeking a workable form of government. It was never intended to make anyone comfortable. The founders of this country understood that every form of government had huge problems that were insurmountable. For this reason alone, they proposed a form of government that attempted to assure that no one form of governance would dominate. They intended tension between each branch. Checks and balances. Check out The Federalist Papers. They ARE this nations founding documents.

'Tis the season...to demonize people of faith...
"Scripture defines what Christians believe. It is the source of truth. It defines the values of the believer. I can no more separate my values about all aspects of life from the Scriptures than I can change who my parents are."

Understanding Peggy Noonan
"Well, what can a conservative say? Here I am, worried about the unborn and hoping America survives President Barack Obama, and she's feeling lucky to see him take the reins of state."

Poor Aren't Poor Because Rich Are Rich
"The presumption implicit in the criticism of growing economic inequality is that society's income is a given and, if the rich have less, others will have more. Up to a point, that's true. The government already redistributes much income, often for the good."

A Study in Character Assassination
"In just one month, the percentage of Americans who viewed GOP vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin unfavorably soared from 32 percent to 49 percent, according to a new survey. Might hostile media coverage account for Palin’s skyrocketing unfavorable rating?"

Editing Their Way to Oblivion
"A few days ago, when asked by a new acquaintance what I did for a living, I replied that I was 'a writer', because I couldn’t bring myself to admit to a stranger that I’m a journalist."

Whose side are you on, comrade?
"The new movement will be plain spoken and social networked up from the internetted streets, suburbs and small towns of America. It certainly will not listen very attentively to those conservatives who idolatrize Mr. Obama and collaborate in heralding his arrival. They may call their commentary "honesty." I would call it - at the minimum - blindness."

Conservatism As It's Actually Lived:
"...when a conservative pundit mocks Wasilla, he's mocking conservatism as it's actually lived, as opposed to conservatism as a theoretical fantasy playground for the purposes of cocktail-party banter."
