"Comrades!" he cried. "You do not imagine, I hope, that we pigs are doing this in a spirit of selfishness and privelege? Many of us actually dislike milk and apples. I dislike them myself. Our sole object in taking these things is to preserve our health. Milk and apples (this has been proved by Science, comrades) contain substances absolutely necessary to the well-being of a pig. We pigs are brainworkers. The whole management and organization of this farm depend on us. Day and night we are watching over your welfare. It is for your sake that we drink that milk and eat those apples. Do you know what would happen if we pigs failed in our duty? Jones would come back! Yes, Jones would come back! Surely, comrades," cried Squealer almost pleadingly, skipping from side to side and whisking his tail, "surely there is no one among you who wants to see Jones come back?"-- Animal Farm, George Orwell

Some recent reading (in no particular order):
"The Crime and Punishment of I. G. Farben," by Joseph Borkin
"Trading With the Enemy," by Charles Higham
"The Secret War Against the Jews : How Western Espionage Betrayed the Jewish People," by John Loftus, Mark Aarons (Contributor) -- most live sources are anonymous, but their factual research is superb
"Du Pont: Behind the Nylon Curtain," by Gerard Colby -- the 1974 edition is rarer, but the 1984 edition was updated. And another book of his, "Thy Will Be Done : The Conquest of the Amazon : Nelson Rockefeller and Evangelism in the Age of Oil," by Gerard Colby and Charlotte Dennett, is very hard to find and is worth the effort to track down.
"The Nazi Doctors: Medical Killing and the Psychology of Genocide," by Robert Jay Lifton
"In the Name of Eugenics : Genetics and the Uses of Human Heredity," by Daniel J. Kevles -- read in conjunction with The Nazi Connection: Eugenics, American Racism, and German National Socialism, by Stefan Kuhl for additional information Kevles glosses over.
"Resource Wars : The New Landscape of Global Conflict," by Michael T. Klare
