I don't think it gets to that level. I do believe the earth goes through a cycle of increased volcanic activity which throws the earth into an ice age every 100K years or so. We're past due...

I don’t have a clue how the number of sunspots could effect earth’s seismic activity. Haven’t read any theories about it that makes much sense either. The data supports it though. Once of those still hidden mysteries for sure...
