All the senators and reps are either blackmailed or implicitly bribed. At the least they are given to know that their future wealth is assured whatever their re-election outcomes if they play along with the establishment but will be limited to their salary and perks as well as lose out on chairmanships and the like if they do not and their re-elections will be opposed by their own party. No. People assume politicians actually believe in things. They don’t. The party exists to gain power, period. With regards to the Wayne Allen Root video at the top of the thread, he mentions something of which I was not aware: that there was some kind of government action taken aimed at himself. I'm not saying he isn't being truthful about this situation, but does anyone know any details as to what his problem with Big Brother is all about?

Although Root is not part of the "opposition" Republican governing class in Washington (usually thought of more as a Libertarian than a Republican) and is merely a relatively minor media pundit, it would seem that the Obama motivation for retaliation against him might be his repeated statements to the effect that he was in Obama's purported graduating class at Columbia in the same major (political science), and yet neither he nor any of his classmates have any recollection of Obama from their Columbia days.
