When I was laid off, I was at a going away luncheon for a friend who had also gotten laid off. I got a call and was told to return to the office for a meeting with the grim reaper people from out of town. I had to pay for a lunch I left behind. They went over the changes to my 26 weeks of severance where I had to file for unemployment in order to get it. I’ve never been on unemployment in my life. So I did what I had to do to continue my full salary for 26 weeks. They asked if I had any questions and I said, “Which one of you a$$holes is paying for my lunch?” They grabbed their stuff and left.

There were 5 other people laid off with me. 4 old guys and one young lady, who was a great programmer. I hung around the office for a few more weeks making calls and getting her a job with one of our competitors. Then I left.

Sorry, I don’t trust blue collars. Most are not real conservatives. They may be conservative on this issue, they may be rabidly conservative compared to other countries, but at the end of the day, they vote their own issues.
