Yes. But our government has to function despite employing lots of very fallible people who are greedy and only want to enhance their own power.
If we depend on having people of integrity in government, the country will fail. The founders knew that. That’s why the constitution is designed to operate despite fallible, greedy, power hungry humans.
The issue is: Has the national security state escaped permanently from any real checks and balances on their power or actions? A very good argument can be made that they have escaped and that this cannot be fixed given our current institutions.
Trump, being Trump, made them do it.
Clearly these are entities of the government that can’t stay uncorrupted. They need to go, or be broken up with more checks and balances.
My personal belief about the Durham report is that it is just another red pill to wake up the public. Why are there no criminal referrals? It makes people angry. They need to get angry. I think that’s part of it.
So I agree with you. Durham is basically saying this cannot be fixed in the normal way.
