Consider that the audience of the legacy networks is predominantly liberal. Conservatives have abandoned the three networks and CNN for years now. They have abandoned the pretense of objectivity anyway. Their remaining audience would complain via phone, text, and email, or post negatively on their social media sites.

In the business world, there is nothing wrong with focusing on a niche market, ONLY if that market is under-served. In fact, it can be a gold mine, so to speak.
However, the fact that the vast majority of media outlets cater to a minority of the demography is proof that they are activist as their prime organizational purpose, and trying to find ways to be profitable are secondary.

Problem is the networks are just a small part of the larger Global Corporations that own them. So even if they lose money, it’s a drop in the bucket.
I think they are going treat Trump like Voldimort in the Harry Potter books. I saw an article title in the Guardian (paraphrasing) “the man who will win Iowa.” Because of the directives and consensus the MSM has in publishing news I think Trump will be the candidate that shall not be named as much as possible. No free press for Trump and maximize the negative stories as possible.
I know this has been happening for awhile but it will become more apparent.
