However, in a number of countries, graves have to be biodegradable. This goes especially for countries in which open-casket funerals are uncommon.
This would be well in line with the commandment in the Bible, wouldn’t it?
I know it sounds preposterous, but medieval monks and nuns were often interred in their cloisters‘ orchards. It was meant as a sign of humility.
