There was a report from a trucker who said his rig along with 40,000 gals of oil were completely blow away. I guess the meteorite was lucky.

We stopped there last yr. on the way to Co.,that`s one big deep
well, it`s gotta be 150` deep and lined with brick.

It`s gotta be the biggest well we`ve ever been in. Well I guess
it`s the only well I`ve been in.

Prayers for those poor people that lost everything.

Oh, man I used to drive through this town going to college 20 years ago (from Nebraska to Arizona).

I remember the signs and always wanted to stop. This is sad.

Pallasite is a type with a lot of Olivine crystals embedded in a matrix of Nickel/Iron - Some nice pics here!!!:

Does this mean meteorites cause tornadoes? Wow!

The tornado mistook the metallic signature of the meteorite for a large trailer park. The town was doomed.

I don’t think there were any mobile homes in this town. Kind of messes with that theory.

Amid the rubble, one of the town's most locally famous features was recovered Monday. A museum volunteer searching the site of the town's Big Well museum found a missing 1,000- pound meteorite, one of the largest of its kind. The meteorite, a type called a pallasite, is insured for $1 million.

They must have hailed that discovery.

The first time is a "Meteorite." The second time is an "A'ight." The third time is an "Oh, no you did-int!"

I first saw our rock when I was in the first grade and I’ve seen it a thousand times since. I have always been told that it is extremely dense and that’s how it looks. Kiowa County is, for various reasons, a meteorite field. People come from all over looking for them.

I’m just now starting to relax.
