>>Universiti Sains Malaysia’s (USM) Centre for Archaeological Research Malaysia has found evidence of early human existence in the country dating back 1.83 million years...<<
When they say “human” they can’t mean homo sapians, I don’t think...

But that would make Neanderthals and even Homo Habilis "human"... that seems odd to me.

Well, if we count liberals and mohammedans as human, why is counting Homo Neaderthalis or even Homo Habilis such a big leap?

And then along comes this Melanesian (neandertal?) to have his photo taken and throws all the theories out with the bathwater...

Generally speaking if you are Homo Sapiens you are a modern human, If you are of the genus Homo you are human, or early human or pre-modern human. If you are Anthropithecus or another of the early species, you are pre-human.

Interesting picture, but I have never heard that the folks over there (or anyone alive) are not genetically Homo sapiens.

Stranger In A New Land (Archaeology)Image: JOHN GURCHE PORTRAIT OF A PIONEER With a brain half the size of a modern one and a brow reminiscent of Homo habilis, this hominid is one of the most primitive members of our genus on record. Paleoartist John Gurche reconstructed this 1.75-million-year-old explorer from a nearly complete teenage H. erectus skull and associated mandible found in Dmanisi in the Republic of Georgia. The background figures derive from two partial crania recovered at the site.

The Peruvian connection, LINKEaster Island Dwelling, Peruvian Chullpa
What is An Easter Island birdman vase doing in Peru? Conversely, what is a carving of an Alpaca head and a carving depicting the legend of carrying fresh fish from the Pacific Ocean to the King in Tiahuanaco doing in a cave on Rapa nui?
The image of the 'Ancient Statue found in Bolivia' sent me on a quest for the Long Ears of Easter Island...but I became distracted by the link above, particularly by the so-called Alpaca head. I saw this object when I first read Aku Aku and wondered what it was.
This is the first time I have seen the 'birdman vase' claimed to have been found in Peru. I wonder if it is a genuine find?

Interesting picture, but I have never heard that the folks over there (or anyone alive) are not genetically Homo sapiens. but can't you just imagine someone digging up the melanesian - and announcing to the world that a neandertal has been discovered in the Pacific?

It was probably the the fault of the Pleaidians when they were on a field trip from Easter Island to Peru, it probably fell out of the mothership
To: gondramB
Maybe not human, but that one on the right sure *looks* homo. :-)
Cheers!
