Why Mars? Why couldn’t it have been blasted off the Earth a few miles and come back down?

Then the question could be asked why the earth was made so”just right” for life while Mars was not and so forth.
I rather think most the exploration for life is being done for the former purpose and not the latter. Perhaps if there is intelligent life on some far world God has kept us apart for His own good and sufficient reasons but who knows....?
