Wifey (before we were married) saw it in Los Angeles...for years and years she wore a gold “Tut” ring she purchased at the time.

Interviewer: “So [the Jewish people] were dispersed in 133 C.E.?”

Zahi Hawass: “That’s right.”

Interviewer: “And they didn’t reunite until 1900?”

Zahi Hawass: “Exactly.”

Interviewer: “So they were dispersed for 18 centuries?”

Zahi Hawass: “For 18 centuries, they were dispersed throughout the world. They went to America and took control of its economy. They have a plan. Although they are few in number, they control the entire world.”

Interviewer: “Dr. Hawass, you are a great historian and archaeologist. I would like to figure out the mystery of how 15 million people, 5 or 6 million of whom do not share this vile Jewish logic… With regard to Israel and Zionism – we are talking about 7 or 8 million. How is it possible that these 7 or 8 million have taken control of the entire world, and have convinced the world of their cause, while we, over one billion Muslims, cannot convince the world of our cause? How would you explain this from a historical perspective?”

Zahi Hawass: “The reason is that they are always united over a single view. They always move together, even if in the wrong direction. We, on the other hand, are divided. If even two Arab countries could be in agreement, our voice would be stronger. Look at the control they have over America and the media.”

Interviewer: “So in your opinion, the secret lies in unity?”

Zahi Hawass: “Yes. It was unity that gave them this power…”

Interviewer: “You mean from a historical perspective?”

Zahi Hawass: “Of course.”

Yeah... I know they sold a lot of trinkets there (and they were expensive trinkets, too ... LOL ...). I got a King Tut gold mask (a little one) that sat on a stand on your desk...

But, alas, I don’t know what happened to it now... such is what happens with trinkets... :-)

Poor Zahi. First, he has to fight the concept that space aliens built the Pyramids. Now, this Egyptian national science leader from-a-country-that-slaughtered-their-pigs-because-they-thought-pigs-would-bring-on-swine-flu has to spend his precious science guy thinking time worrying about a hole?

Yep.

I used to love the Egyptian programs on the History Channel, and get a kick out of Hawass because he defended against the cockamamie space alien pyramid theories.

But then, I started reading some of his anti-semitic and anti-Israel rants.

And it dawned on me that there was not a SINGLE program about Egypt in which he was not the “Star” Character.

Tool.

The sarcophagus is not on this tour. Big disappointment.

How did I know before I opened this thread that the “Egyptian Official” would be Hawass?

I saw it then in Seattle as well. I was only about 16 but it was very memorable.

With all the economics that are involved, payments for the exhibition and guarantees to the Supreme Council," Norman said, "We were unable to satisfy their economic goals and our economic goals."

A portion of the exhibit's proceeds will return to Egypt in support of the ongoing study and preservation of antiquities, and the construction of the Grand Museum of Egypt in Cairo.

So, the answer, Mr. HowAss, is that you got so greedy you priced your exhibition right out of the Met.

Please tell Dr. Zahi Hawass that pretty soon Egypt will cease to exist. He'd better find exhibition hall locations for as much of that old Pharoah stuff that he wants to save.

Egypt's gonna blow sky high later this year, or early next. This next Middle East War is going to be a deluge upon his country, Egypt will never be anything more than three huge speedbumps.

If you don't believe me, just ask our Dear Leader who told us all 'ahead of time' about the great Hawaiian earthquake and tsunami. Perhaps, he could give Dr. Zahi Hawass more details about Egypt's coming demise.

After this war, Times Square will be considered a very fine location. Please check it out with your fellow muslim Mr. Barry Soetero first?

Thanks, Civ.

We will go anyway, even though the exhibit is in a trashy “hole”.

FWIW, the Met, which is a private institution, has already hosted a King Tut Expo, and it was a huge success. The Met does not have the financial, security or other resources to handle the expected huge crowds.

I’m pleased that the treasures are coming to NY again, and I would encourage everyone to go and see them. It is the chance of a lifetime.

Even given the fact that the Egyptian government has deigned to allow us lowly and Israel supporting Americans to pay for this Exposition, I still say EFF the Egyptians.

If Hawass didn’t know where he exhibit was going to be house via the negotiations, then he is inexcusably ignorant, inattentive to detail, or incompetent.

If he did know in advance, he is not being truthful in order to protect his own butt.

Of course, all of this presupposes that the venue is a “hole” and not suitable for the display.

I saw the tour a couple of years ago when it hit the Field Museum in Chicago; I think it’s currently in an extended stay at its last stop. It’s impressive! But the one you say in 1978 was even moreso I believe, and this thing at Times Square — Zowie is complaining, but there’s a Tut mummy replica which is basically a mannikin wrapped in bandages, it’s perfectly appropriate to put it in a department store window display. :’)

I’m sorry, but every time Egypt’s number one corruptocrat decides to hog the headlines, it reminds me of this:

Zawi Hawass is Egyptology’s equivalent.
