Well they may not be very nice lords. The latest minimum temp from Antarctica Dome A is -66.6 F.
Oops. That is -66.6 C not F.

Not a thing. I keep promising to teach it to my grandkids so when the world collapses, they will have a step up in the communications field.
Long Live Morse.....
BTW QRK5/5
I have lost hearing (don't tell my 3rd ex that I admitted that). I can still copy code with a good DSP filter and high volume.
I didn't take the waiver. I did it the right way.

Or, alternately, click my profile and scroll down for the latest solar MDI continuum image. The sun has been *very* quiet since the spring of 2005.
hard to believe there’s anything we don’t ‘know’ about nature and the universe -— the Albore left has been so darned certain about AGW all these years and that the sun cannot have anything to do with temperature changes on planet earth, etc.
My opinion, start with a flashlight to train.
It is fun and easy.

We have yet to see temps over the middle 70’s here in Montana this summer. High temp today in Jordan was 72.

Yep, and they certainly did not give you the question pool. The study guides covered most of the material, but you were pretty much on your own from that.
Far different now. You can pass the exam without understanding the material.
And the GROL, that is another matter. Worst mine field I ever saw. Not a test of understanding but a set of hurdles. Very tricky multiple choice questions. That mess seperates lots of men from boys.
You are right but the oldest gs is 16 and his brother 13.
I didn’t really learn till I went in the Navy but it came naturally to me. Of course I took typing in HS so I had half the battle won as I just had to concentrate on the dits and dahs.
In school we had to do a character, space, character etc and if you made a mistake had to go back and slash out the mistake and put the correction above the mistake.
I was acing tests with 5 and 6 ‘corrections’ and while expecting ‘hoorahs’ they were continuously on me...took a while to figure out that it was easier paying attention the first time....then it just rolled in...
got my speed up to UPI press and 60WPM+
Bush’s fault...
I also have a high freq hearing loss. Too many loud noises in my past. But I have no trouble copying morse on my S-Line (32S3 75S3 pair) with the mechanical filter. Fine CW rig.
Yes, it has tubes, but is like a fine Swiss Watch. I even built a homebrew outboard synthesizer to give it general coverage. That was a project, discrete component PLL with 10-1 tuning range on diode.
Well, I don't think he was smart enough to engineer that. But I will give him a fat little hogger hug, and get a good ol laugh....
I can't imagine anything over 14mhz in daylight or 5mhz at night.
Hell, you're probably better off with 500khz at night and just turn the power up:)
My nieces grab me by the arm, turn me to face them, and speak loudly. Because I don't hear a damn thing they say. Lip reading works.

At least they can predict earths weather. /idiots
Once heard a story about an elderly Navy radio operator vet who had a bad stroke and could not speak. A young doctor (who was a Ham) heard him beating CW out with a spoon on the side of a wheel chair. When he realized what was happening, he furnished him a key, and the young doctor could not keep up with the old guy. The mind is an amazing device.
Squids gotta get the signal through, no matter what. So squids do what squids do.
Thank you for your service.
