I always thought that the old Volkswagon "Thing" bore a pretty close resemblence to the Kubelwagen ...

I owned a type 181 variant
SAFARI

Produced for the Mexican domestic market the Safari was also exported to countries to the south of Mexico. The Safari could run on lower grade Premex gasolines the Mexican domestic engines all had low compression pistons installed. The running gear was Bus, so it was listed (at least in my vehicle) was almost a ton.

Sold it - but not a good auto for a married guy with kiddos.
