studying rock sediments from millions of years ago geologists have been able to model how increases in greenhouse gases led to temperature change and extinction of species.

With all those species going extinct for all those millions of years, the Earth should be totally devoid of life right about now.

Unless, that is, life is opportunistic and uses competitive advantage to adapt to new environments or something.

Why wouldn't global warming create more life than it destroys? Go to any place on the planet which has warmth and water and you'll see it's teeming with life. The North and South Pole? Not so much.

Oh no! Would it be worse if it took a billion years? Just imagine how horrible it would be if it took one TRILLION years to recover!

AGW nuts. Go live without petroleum products for a year and get back with me on how that turns out. OK?

Should we just quit breathing?

Only those who believe (or say) that AGW is a problem. That should be more than enough, and it will solve many of the world's real problems too.

What's "normal" for a planet that has had varying climate that has ranged from glacial to tropical?

No one is qualified to make that assessment.

These "geologists" are phony scientists IMO.

No Smoking Hot Spot (The Australian)

That article takes Greenhouse Theory at face value and by the criterion set up in the theory itself finds no evidence of warming on the basis of greenhouse effect.

The Hidden Flaw in Greenhouse Theory

Falsification Of The Atmospheric CO2 Greenhouse Effects Within The Frame Of Physics

Harvard astrophysicist dismisses AGW theory, challenges peers to 'take back climate science'

It Is Impossible For A 100 ppm Increase In Atmospheric CO2 Concentration To Cause Global Warming

Those four articles each show that Greenhouse Theory has no basis in reality due to a direct conflict with the known laws of physics. No wonder the smoking gun "hotspot" can't be found.

Claim That Sea Level Is Rising Is a Total Fraud

That article pretty much puts the kibosh on any serious trend of planetary warming from any cause. Think about it. If there is absolutely no sign at all of rising sea levels how could the planet be warming? Beyond the centuries long slow warming of the earth and rising of the seas of course. But that is only a few millimeters per century due to the inter-glacial period we are in.

“By studying rock sediments from millions of years ago geologists have been able to model how increases in greenhouse gases led to temperature change and extinction of species.”

Well first off, the writers mis-spoke (unintentionally do doubt), because I imagine the Geologists were not trying to say that “increases in greenhouse gases” led to ALL global temperature changes; just global changes to global warming - not cooling.

But, what this group of politicized self-described scientists did was ignore a basic tenant of science - correlation IS NOT causation. Not being climate scientists their study did not even address it - climate science. The only thing their finding demonstrates is that evidence of “increases in greenhouse gases” is often found in the geologic record at a point in time in that record where evidence of warming temperatures are found as well.

In as much as warming should itself improve conditions for green plant life, which should increase the supply of it, which should over time increase the annual volume of the decay of it, which should increase the natural release of CO2 - evidence in the ancient record may still leave a chicken vs the egg question about many ancient periods of “warming”.

A quick side note on that.

OK, first, from a credentials standpoint, I have a MSME with a heavy emphasis on heat transfer, fluid mechanics, diffusion processes and thermodynamics. No, I’m not a “climate scientist”. And yes, I have a more than basic understanding of the thermophysical happenings that are at the core of “weather”. Probably much better than a large percentage of these so-called climate scientists.

With that said, the idea that these fools think they can predict what is going to happen years, let alone decades, let alone centuries, let alone millenia, in the future, based on the increase of what is now and will be, no matter what we do, a trace gas, is so absurd that anyone with half a brain should immediately stop listening to them now. The physical processes involved are just that complicated, that it’s like trying to predict exactly where in Northern Europe / the Arctic a rubber duckie released in the Gulf Stream off of the tip of Florida will end up. Only 10X, or 100X, or 10^9X harder.

We don’t even have good temperature data to tell what has happened in the recent or distant past, is happening, nor accurate models that can predict the past, let alone predict the future. And yet these people think we should give government untold new taxation powers to ultimately remove key sources of energy that make our civilization run, based on that!? It is pure insanity.

Well.... the glaciers been melting for at least 10,000 years.. You know back when Al Gumps ancestors started fleecing the rubes..

Are we talking 20,000 years here?..
