‘The explosion will be so bright that even though the star in the Orion constellation is 640 light-years away, it will still turn night into day and appear like there are two suns in the sky for a few weeks.’

Wouldn’t that mean that if it happened tomorrow it would still be 640 years before we saw it?

I'm just trying to hold the Yellowstone Caldera down until the total eclipse of 21 Aug 17.

The article says it’s 640 light years away, not 640 million LY.

Big deal. We have some safety lights set up around our camps that turn nighttime into day. ;-)

So is that what that big noise was in 1371?

When this happens, should we be worried about gamma ray exposer?

At over 600 light years away, the amount of Gamma Rays versus area of coverage, ever expanding as it moves away from the origin, the amount actually hitting Earth will be measurable but very insignificant.

Only if you aren't protected.

Basically, if we see it now, it happened when they started the original construction of the Bastille in Paris.

Luke 21:25

“There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea.

Brad Carter, Senior Lecturer of Physics at the University of Southern Queensland in Australia, claimed yesterday that the galactic blast could happen before 2012 – or any time over the next million years.

This guys is so precise, he should be doing exit poling for the MSM!

It seems to me I read something like that. The sun will give 7 times her light and be given power to scorch men!

No, the sound travels slower. It will be the big noise heard in 2640.

The explosion will be so bright that even though the star in the Orion constellation is 640 light-years away, it will still turn night into day and appear like there are two suns in the sky for a few weeks.

Estimated apparent magnitude from Betelgeuse going supernova: -12.

Average apparent magnitude of the full moon. −12.74, about twice as bright as Betelguese's supernova

Apparent magnitude of the sun: −26.74, or about 800,000 times brighter than Betelgeuse going supernova.

It will be more like a nice moonlit night rather than a second sun in the sky.
