Wouldn’t that mean that if it happened tomorrow it would still be 640 years before we saw it?

When this happens, should we be worried about gamma ray exposer? At over 600 light years away, the amount of Gamma Rays versus area of coverage, ever expanding as it moves away from the origin, the amount actually hitting Earth will be measurable but very insignificant.

So is that what that big noise was in 1371? No, the sound travels slower. It will be the big noise heard in 2640.

Average apparent magnitude of the full moon. −12.74, about twice as bright as Betelguese's supernova
Apparent magnitude of the sun: −26.74, or about 800,000 times brighter than Betelgeuse going supernova.
It will be more like a nice moonlit night rather than a second sun in the sky.
