I appreciate your reply. I got a little heated as my grandparents immigrated from Italy and were proud to learn English. They spoke some Italian at home but only English outside the home.
And no, I have never been to Presidio. I love Texas though and would love to. And I love Germans. LOVE Germans. Awesome people.
I have no idea when my ancestors came to the U.S. 1836 in South Carolina is the earliest connection we have. From that point it is clear where we were.
SC to GA to AL to TX.
Other of my ancestors (married in) were born in Texas during the Republic of Texas (1836-1846).
Did not mention that my mother is Swedish. She was born in Minnesota. She and my father met in DC as he was about to ship to Europe for WWII.
When my father was on his way back to TX after the war, he had my grandfather send my mother a train ticket to Texas. They were married the night she arrived in Texas in my grandparents home. That was 65 years ago. They are still love birds. (both have health issues)
