QUICK
Someone call Lava soap company and give them the coordinates of this thing!

There must be a market just waiting for this opportunity! It must be a great soil additive in gardens!

Caddyshack (1980)
Sandy: I want you to kill every gopher on the course!
Carl Spackler: Check me if I’m wrong Sandy, but if I kill all the golfers, they’re gonna lock me up and throw away the key...
Sandy: Gophers, ya great git! The gophers! The little brown furry rodents!
Carl Spackler: We can do that; we don’t even have to have a reason.

Wonder if there is any commercial value of this stuff ?
Tell the environmentalist that it's helping to clean up the environment and at the same time make a profit.
There has got to be some kind of commercial value of this stuff.
Lava Rock ? landscaping material ? heated rock spa material ? crush it up and use it in cement ? mix it in with asphalt, stones and path roads with it.

Mega Earth molten rock pimple ? Earth molten rock diarrhea ?
To: Ernest_at_the_Beach
Not good at math or the science, but, how many mega tons of this stuff be at 10,000 sq miles of this stuff ?
If used for commercial purposes won't have to mine this stuff out of the ground, scoop it up from the water from a ship or used huge vacuums to scoop it up.
That's the size of either the state of Vermont or Massachusetts.

Pumice floats on water because the rock has so many air pockets trapped inside it. So, a really big volcano must have erupted underwater, and all the pumice just floated up.

Lots of commercial applications, like lava soap, abrasives, hydroponic medium, aquarium fill.

Like Dremel grinding stones ? oxy stones for fish tanks ?
To: Boogieman
Would be nice if some of that some has Gold, Copper, or other precious metals mixed in with the lava rock.

Well, we finally have the answer to what happened to Amelia Aerhart. A simialr eruption occured beofre her flight, and when they were lost and almost out of gas, they looked down, saw thus stuff thought it was land, and tried to land on it...oopsie..

I’m not sure about the dremel bit, it’s a light abrasive, so it’s used in stuff like polishes, toothpaste, facial scrubs, nail files, etc.
For aquariums, they are not used like oxy stones, but as landscaping (aquascaping?). They’ve got to be treated first to remove the oxygen pockets, so they don’t float, but they are lightweight and very porous, so they don’t put pressure on the tank and they can host lots of bacteria.
