donmeaker ~:"..but Hoppe’s is more romantic."

Hoppe's is a male aphrodisiac.
I saw once where it was used as a truck 'air freshener', hanging from the rear view mirror , and everybody wanted one !

When I was in the Navy down at Cecil Field in Florida, I woke one night in my barracks when I heard a slight scuffing noise and thought “What the hell is that?”

I turned on my light to find the biggest roach I had ever seen, scurrying across the deck. Without hesitation, I leaped out of my rack, grabbed one of my black boondockers, and ran straight at the thing trying to smash the thing holding the boot by the tip and using the heel as the hammer.

I smacked at it three or four times, missing with each try, and the thing scurried under the crack at the bottom of the door and ran into the hallway.

Too pumped up, and thinking I would never get back to sleep with a monster like THAT lurking in the barracks, I opened the door and ran after it into the hallway in my white, Navy issue boxer shorts, whacking frantically at this thing.

Finally, I scored a blow, and the beast made a loud sickening crack as the heel of the shoe came down on top of it. I froze, and when I lifted the shoe off of the dead thing (or so I thought) it suddenly took to flight!

It scared the crap out of me! I didn’t even know those things had wings and could even fly, but what was more unsettling was the fact that it seemed to be about the size of a softball as it took to the the air, wings beating like mad.

A big, wing-beating thing the circumference of a softball!

Learned one last week....I replaced all three toilets and getting the bottom bowl to position over the lag bolts in the flange on the floor was pissing me off big time...I keep missing them and the wax ring will take only so much abuse trying position the ring on the flange

I took a straw and cut it in half put the ends over the bolts to "extend" them...just tipped the bowl over and slide the straws though the holes lowered the bowl and a perfect fit..

Last two bowls were a one shot deal...

Carb cleaner does the same thing. I’ve literally seen wasps fall out of the sky dead when hit with carb cleaner.

The secret to easy to shell hard-boiled eggs, as every grandmother should know...

DO NOT USE FRESH EGGS.

Also, when finished boiling, rinse them liberally in cold water and they will peel much better...

Strongly recommend using TWO grills. (Cook bacon on one
and then remove to griddle for making the pancakes)

This doesn’t work as well if the only plug you have is for the lamp you’re using to see the screw... :)

Back before the Mythbusters went BHO, which meant I stopped watching...they did do an epi on chilling beer.

Using heat for evaporative cooling doesn't work, but a CO2 fire extinguisher works great on a 6-pack of cans. Except for the $30 to recharge the thing.

I think they settled on pouring the beer through a coil immersed in iced water ending up in a glass.

I recall some ads for a gimmicky motorized horizontal can spinner that you put a couple/three cubes on the can and set it a spinnin' for a minute or two.

Oh, and the Rocket City Rednecks tricked out a motor home including adding a LN2 beer cooler for their Talledega tailgating show.

Yeah, and you use a bic lighter with the carb cleaner. I don’t think the Gunk burns as well.

My daughter needed a bit of machine oil to fix a squeaky hinge in her apartment that was driving her nuts. She had none and was griping to me about having to go to the big box store for a tiny can of oil.

I told her to pull out her cars dipstick and she have the drop she needed.

I was at a gun show, and smelled something good. The Hoppe’s vendor was applying his product to patches of rug, so it would evaporate, and people like me followed the pheromones.
