Assuming that there’s anything to the story.

Shouldn’t take too long to know, if they keep up the digs and testing.

Not if the folklore is BS in the first place.

> The new findings are bound to stir fresh interest in the Paleo-Eskimos, a group that has long puzzled archaeologists. To the bewilderment of many researchers, the Paleo-Eskimos discarded the technologically advanced bows and arrows they brought from Asia, preferring instead to hunt with larger and heavier lances that required closer contact with dangerous game.

Damn those Paleos! ;’)

When I saw that, I could only shake my head-obviously there is not a hunter among them-even a bunch of arrows are going to just piss off something big-wouldn’t you just love to try and stop a brown bear/grizzly bear with a primitive bow and some arrows? A large, heavy lance/spear is a better weapon-it has a wicked blade and a long handle to keep the animal at arm’s length. Also, those people hunted in groups-safety in numbers-just as many Eskimos still do. The Paleo Eskimos appear to have been smarter than the archaeologists on the matter of safety when hunting large game...
