Me too. And very few of his theories have been solidly disproven while several have been confirmed.

We are not necessarily talking about “volcanic gases”. If the flash freezing were caused by a large bolide strike, you also are having a huge disruption of the frigid upper atmosphere both by the incoming missile(s) and the subsequent super explosion(s) when it or they hit. The freezing would not have to be “instant”. If the body temperature were pushed near freezing in a few hours, digestion would stop and a few more hours would then actually accomplish the freezing of all body parts and food in stomach, or milk in stomach as with the baby animals recently found.
I don’t know if you read any of the 700+ comments at this article, but here are 3 that are particularly relevant:

Or an outwash of melted glacier pouring out from mid continent as a huge bolide(s) strike in the Great Lakes area. I also hypothesize that great chunks of ice were thrown into the area of the Carolina Bays and similar structures where they skidded slightly giving the eliptical shape trending toward the Great Lakes and then melted leaving lakes of various sizes. All described in Firestone’s book.
The quick-frozen mammoths are difficult at best to explain using any gradualist scenario, not least because any landscape that cold wouldn't produce sufficient food for most of the year to support the caloric and nutritional needs of a mammoth, or a mating pair, or the population represented by the pile of bones of mammoths and other extinct forms and comprising the framework of a couple of Arctic coastal islands off Siberia. It isn't about some avalanche, or some mammoth having a slip and fall accident in a near-freezing water-filled sinkhole, something big happened suddenly.
It would make sense for a nomadic tribal group to have all the females with synchronized lunar cycles. The wandering tribe could camp for a few days while the females did their thing, and the younger men could go off hunting unencumbered by slow moving women, kids and old folks. Also not staying in camp with no female “entertainment” available. It sounds like an evolutionary win-win solution.
Funny part is that it still goes on. In groups of women in close quarters, their lunar cycles synchronize around a (biologically) dominant female. The studies were done in college dorms in the ‘70s. It could have definite advantages until ‘baby season’ came around.
