But POTUS had a great meeting with the NRA, both sides said so. I dont think Trumps doing anything he didnt put through them. The NRA already signaled that they wouldn't object to a bump-fire stock ban after the Las Vegas shooting.

Hopefully the pan is to get the EO overturned in court. Win for Trump by “doing something”, win for the NRA by getting it struck down.

It isnt an EO its an ATF rule.A distinction without a difference. I need a Bill, a legally-drafted and signed Bill. Otherwise, nothing stops the Dems from banning all semis by 'an ATF rule'.

Yeah, the NRA, itself, has said they do not consider bumpstocks to be firearms, at all, and therefore any regulation of them has nothing to do with the 2nd amendment.

Won’t matter.
Nothing Trumps proposes has any impact on what Dems would do.

It is a reversal of an ATF rule allowing them, promulgated under Obama no less, and ordered by Trump.

Agency rules are subject to review and must comply with the underlying statute. Not to worry. You can call a fork a spoon but when the definition is reviewed by a court, its still a fork.
Bump stocks are not worth a review by us or them.

Executive orders are not enforceable laws, and they only directly affect government workers. They do not rewrite law.

You might want to wait for the first court case to see how that goes.
Recall that most of Obama’s EO’s were adjudicated to be unconstitutional.

The President is making a PR move trying to get out of the line of fire, but he set a very dangerous precedent. The DEMOCRATS, regardless to any precedent, will abuse their power when in office. It's guaranteed in the Constitution.

Executive orders are not enforceable laws, and they only directly affect government workers.Yes. You are correct.
They only directly affect government workers, such as the FBI or ATF, in who they arrest, or kill while resisting said arrest.
That is an indirect affect to the rest of us.

I'm not a gun owner, so a compromise banning bump stocks seems like a nothing giveaway to me, which is probably how 2/3 rds or more of America see it. ....Reasonable, able to bend...he's doing something. it helps him bury the libs in the end....which is more important to me.
A conservative SC can overturn it, as they probably should and will.

“Something has to be done”... About the killing, yes. About the guns? Wrong answer. The guns didn’t do it.
“banning bump stocks, and raising age limit are reasonable changes.” Unfortunately they are also useless... and one of them is unconstitutional.
A person who is willing to commit mass murder is not bothered by trivialities (to them) like these. Only the law abiding are deprived of the ability to defend their lives.
