This (or something like it anyway) was supposed to be in the post I made, it must have had some crap characters in the text that I missed (due to failing eyesight, maybe that's in my DNA?) and truncated the rest of the post. My DNA ended up having Denisovan, which is not what I expected, I'd just wanted to find out about my Neandertal content.
My mother told me that when I was a few months old, they were visited by my father’s sister and her husband, who had two children, 1 and 3 years old. My mother and my uncle had opposite views about whether babies should sleep on their back or their stomach (I forget which one had which opinion). My mother would put me to sleep one way and my uncle would go in and switch me to the other way, then my mother would go in and switch me back...on and on. They lived in another state so I don’t think it was a very long visit.
I read recently that Asians have a higher percentage of Neanderthal DNA than Europeans. Probably all people have some unless they are 100% of sub-Saharan African ancestry.
Your mother must have had the patience of a saint to not go mama bear on your uncle.
My father and my uncle were friends in the Marines in the South Pacific during the war. When his friend got a "Dear John" letter from his girlfriend, my father gave him his sister's address and they began corresponding and got married in 1945. They had two children, 7 grandchildren, and I don't know how many great-grandchildren by now--none of whom would have been born if my father and my uncle had not been friends in the Marines.
Describes my Tyrol ancestors perfectly. They came from Oberndorf, where Silent Night, Holy Night was composed and first performed.
With a little imagination, one can hear Neanderthal yodeling across the valley to the mountain passes.
What a loving family! It makes perfect sense now.
My grandfather was in the 509th PIB. He made the first ever U.S. combat jumps into North Africa. There would be over 50 nonexistent people if he'd been shot instead of captured on a ill-conceived and busted mission at Avellino, in the mountains of Italy.

Hominid ancestors who had been part of the evolutionary path from monkeys and apes had migrated to Europe over a million years ago. The Neanderthals were in a line of evolution from those earlier hominids.
