A very good book, probably his best. I thought the mini series was weak.
King is a hard core Rat. These days he always tosses in a obligatory Republican villain.

Stephen King is rabidly liberal . Anyone in his books who is religious is a nutcase as well as anyone who owns a gun. Look at who the heroes are in the stand; an agnostic,a drug addict, and a single pregnant girl. These are who he selected to be on the “good” side.

Why remake it? This one was good:

There is zero creativity in Hollywood these days. It’s all lather, rinse, repeat.

Think of all the movies they could make IF they liked Trump - or, even liked America I guess.

I can assure you that The Stand Reboot will not be Christian based. It will likely be heavily anti-Christian and Anti-Republican and Anti-Trump. That’s pretty much all Hollyweird can create these days.

I disagree with Philly, at least as to The Stand. King actually sound like he has some insight into religious people with his treatment of Mother Abigail. Maybe they’ll gut the role, but she’s absolutely intrinsic to the story. The Stand is a masterpiece ( I own it on Audible and I think I’ll listen again!) I don’t think the miniseries was not particularly well executed and I’m looking forward to anaother shot

I never buy any of his works ... he is a profane low-life Progressive .... the only way I know his works are from YouTube videos ... hope he never gets another royalty check.

Second best, after ‘Salem’s Lot. I bought the Lot at the AFA Cadet Book Store during my lunch break 40-some odd years ago. It was the first King book I ever purchased. Took it home, had dinner, started reading. About 10 I stopped, took a shower, went to bed. About 11 I got up, turned on all the lights in the apartment, and finished reading the book before going to work. Scariest book I ever read! LOL!

The Stand is nothing like anything else that King has ever written. To me it’s as he was used as an instrument of God. I thought the casting of the 1994 miniseries was out standing. I can think of no other are a if the period that would have been better. The fact that a ‘Obummer’ look-a-like appears in in one scene is chilling! The many references to id’s will and free will are very thought provoking.

Personally these lines from the book I think of often when I look back on my life: “No one can tell what goes on in between the person you were and the person you become. No one can chart that blue and lonely section of hell. There are no maps of the change. You just... come out the other side. Or you don’t.”

I thought the casting of the 1994 miniseries was outstanding.

It was quite a stretch for Bill Faggerbakke. After his work on "Coach," I didn't know if he had the acting chops to play the retarded Tom Cullen, but he pulled it off beautifully.

Regrettably, because the miniseries was produced for a broadcast TV network, they couldn't use Lloyd Henreid's last words before he and Las Vegas were nuked. Now they can use them.

Maybe that's how he got the gig as Patrick, on Spongebob.

He also played an Aryan Nations prison guard on “Oz,” the HBO prison series.

I’d rather see the Gunslinger done over a period of 6 - 8 years. It could be a smash hie except for Hollywood casting. Too bad Clint Eastwood isn’t young anymore.

Seems to me just about every Stephen King movie has an anti-Christian sub plot.

The Stand is about a battle between good and evil. It's one of the few things King has written that actually has a positive message.

The Stand hard lesson for me and I believe for so many who have posted and most conservatives in general is very bibical; the great enemy is not destroyed by physical battle, but only though our faith.
