This article begs the question as to whether it is a good thing to see a city transformed into a global City. Considering the situation with many of our big cities nowadays, some of the so-called less sophisticated Backwater cities are looking better and better
No doubt about it.
“Nash-vile is gone. “
My people ‘immigrated’ there in 1795. I went back two years ago and it was horrible. Went to my old neighborhood and the Mestizo construction workers gave me the stink eye like they owned the place..
“Going to a Kroger around here in Nashville is like walking into a Star Wars Cantina. “
Same thing at King Soopers here in Longmont, Co.
Andrew Jackson spinning like a top.
Perpetual joke here: "Grandpa built 440, dad repaired 440, 440's been good to me and by gum it's good enough for my grand kids to work on." Because it's never done.
**Its a mess**
Yes, but oddly enough, at mid afternoon yesterday I got through from Pleasant View on I-24, down through the metro to Columbia, with less delay than expected. Possibly because many folks had started the holiday early and had already gone home or out of town.
A guy that looked a little like you was along my right side, put his window down (in the rain) and shaked his fist at me (I thought). He did it again, only i realized that he wanted me to blow the air horn on my 379 Pete. I did, and he smiled and waved. He was a big guy like you, and got off 65 at the 71 exit for Brentwood.
(But somehow I can’t picture you driving a 10 yr old Rogue)
I occassionally have a 4am load to pickup in the Brick Church Industrial Park off Trinity Lane. It is a pleasure to cruise into the metro and out, just having to watch that I don’t get carried away with mashing the throttle.
The wife and I haven’t been to Stones River. But we’ve been to Shiloh. A humbling experience to say the least.
Its been gone awhile now.
Too many lefty hipsters gone country.
Entire neighborhoods scarfed up by gentrified speculators. Expensive as hell.
Plus traffic is even more of a nightmare than it ever was.
Savannah, GA is another of my favorite Southern cities.
Back in 81 there wasnt anything
Unlikely, but do they know a guy named Antonio Brice?
Indeed I lived out West End off Estes and then I lived in the heart of Green Hills then moved out to south Williamson county below Franklin which passes I suppose for horse country around here for the schools
I simply did not have 150,000 a year to spare for three kids in high school and two in college
Nashville may be liberal ...no question actually...but the surrounding counties are not and its quite livable
It has lost its southern charm whatever it once had. It was never like a Deep South city like Savannah or Charleston or even old Atlanta but due to that it had a relatively small black population and was spared those issues
More so than any other major southern city frankly
Where I live is a great place to raise kids..70% Trump country
Freepers just like to be negative by nature..some anyhow
One thing Nashville now may be is the party capital of America....surpassing New Orleans
I would wager downtown Nashville has more partiers now than the French Quarter does on a given night
Or its damn close..
Its a lot safer although this past week too brawls one that left one man dead at the hand of white kids and another turned into a shooting
Thats pretty uncommon
I live about 15 miles further south
And I drive a Maroon Dodge Ram Hemi
I live in lease trucks....700/month unlimited mileage and turn em in when they ask for them back
I drive minimum 100,000 a year
I cant afford to burn through a 50,000 dollar truck a year
Im not common at 61 to fight in traffic but when I was a young man well....but not at women ever although I might tease them
Colors are backwards. Blue is Conservative. Red is Commie Totalitarian Demonrat.
No, just that it remain politically, culturally and socially sane.
Some people just are filled with hatred for anything slightly different to what they’ve known their whole lives. Based on Fear, usually. Nashville’s great. We need a different mayor, but we’re probably going to get one in a few months.
The media switched it around to be smart asses.
Election 2000. Done deliberately for propaganda reasons. Purely Orwellian. I have never used it and have urged our side to utterly reject it for the past 19 years because it is not only wrong, but viscerally offensive. I’m not a “Red” in a “Red State.” I do live in a “Red” county (Nashville’s Davidson) because it votes Commie Demonrat, but I’m in a Conservative Blue state (TN).
Hopefully Professor Carol Swain. If she were a Communist, the media would be falling all over her to get her elected. Because she’s not, they’re ignoring her.
The media would prefer the ultra-moobat Clemmons, as if our Mayors need to be even more Communist. We haven’t had a non-leftist Mayor since the current Mayor’s grandfather, Beverly Briley, and he left office in 1975.
