Daily mail should send a photojournalist to the farm with a camera and a shovel and take a photo for posterity.

“Master of Horses.” Sounds like a useful lady.

She makes the Indy 500 look like a Roman chariot race now
(You look like an ace now you look like an ace)
A lotta guys try to catch her
But she leads them on a wild goose chase now
(You drive like an ace now you drive like an ace)

Looks more Italian. Hope the princess appreciates it.

BAFFLING! One of only 3 of its kind known to exist and NO PLANS to move it to a museum.

Stunningly asinine.

Expect it to be fully stolen inside of year.

“”The mosaic will now be covered over once more to protect it and to allow farming to continue. “”

They mean to bury it again!

That picture is not what they uncovered. If you go to the story, they definitely found a mosaic floor, much larger than the pictured bas-relief.

Article? Who reads the articles?

I see what you’re saying. Thanks for the correction! What was the other pic? Another part of the find, or just another example of art illustrating the mythology?

For those who didn’t know the character mentioned by the poster the post was addressed to, it pointed to a Wikipedia article describing that character.

"That's crazy. Pay the farmers NOT to use the field. No telling how much was destroyed in the rebury and dig up processes. "

Agreed.

Something this old, and this historical should not be reburied.

Why intentionally induce more damage and accelerated wear? Is there no one or no private/gov't body who could pay for some sort of preservation?

The mosaic will now be covered over once more to protect it and to allow farming to continue.

How stupid. A small piece of land covered so < 10 dollars of gain can be grown. We defer to farmers WAY to much...

So far as I can figure, the other pic is just an illustration of the same mythological race. Nothing to do with the British find.

Doesn’t look like a mosaic to me. Looks like a bas-relief frieze.

That was my take too...

If you read other responses to me it turns out that photo was not from the find. Clearly a mosaic when you see actual pictures. .
