The Hurricane narrative is not correct. Forget the headlines. Look at the data here.

Storms are ratings, and ratings is money.

Off topic I know, but why does this group call themselves the “Weather Underground”? The Weather Underground was a domestic terrorist organization. Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dorn were key people involved. Are they trying to be cute with that name?

Both the Weather Underground terrorist group and the Weather Underground weather group had their origins at the University of Michigan. Thus the supposedly "cute" name, The Weather Underground, by the weather group.

The Weather Underground terrorist group was previously called the Weathermen, named after lyrics in a Bob Dylan song.

I'm glad nowadays we can use both terms weather men and weather underground without it being tied to an old terrorist group.

I hate it when that happens. When they do it here, they always go through the flower bed, eating most of them in the process.

To be very honest with you... I have not watched Fox News in years. We unplugged from the set, just go about living our lives in rural Georgia. Outside of the occasional random cartwheel with my kids, building structures in the woods, with the kids. We seem to be doing fine.

With the streaming stuff online. My kids can still watch things like Zorro, The Lone Ranger, etc. My girls are big into Ballet, never guess what they watch a lot of. I do not miss all of the commercials for some reason. Yet if using google, they seam to find that the solution to fixing a problem, must be to buy a new item.

Thanks for the information.

Have a blessed day!

Until reaching the eye of the hurricane, the windspeeds might be half as much as the max indicated, especially for max sustained. 3 Sec gusts on avg will be 30% greater than 1 min sustained max avg speeds. I tried to post the below link, but the html doesn’t seem to take.

It shows a graph of the hurricane diameter with eye and corresponding wind speeds. with distance from the eye or approx.

Technology has improved so much that contrasting a hurricane today with one 30 years ago is an apples-oranges comparison.

Where in the past, a single hurricane hunter aircraft releasing a few dropsondes and radio reports from unfortunate shipping created the official record until the storm made landfall and an official weather station could take readings. Now, radar can peer inside the storm and essentially see everything.

On average, Dorian might be a Cat-3 but if radar spots a small area of higher wind, that higher wind is attributed to the entire storm.

If today's technology had been available, who knows how powerful Camille may have been?

How will Dorian effect all those windmill farms setting offshore.

So it's really only a small area very close to the eye wall that experiences the advertised highest wind speeds.

I think that this is where Big Media misinforms the public.

Weather Underground started back in the early 90s at Univ of Michigan. I’ve been using their weather reports since 1996 at least. They are great at telling you what the weather reports mean, have good maps, and, point you to the original data.

As for hurricane reports, the National Hurricane Center is consistently the most accurate forecasting service. Don’t bother with anyone else who isn’t using that as their base for their reports.

It’s possible they were aware of the name, and tried to...er, capitalize off it. Some years ago, my family saw what we thought was a high school sports bumper sticker...it said, “Catch Scarlet Fever!” My father especially thought it was in poor taste.

I don't think so. I noticed this over a decade ago and began monitoring temps, precipitation and wind from 5 calibrated stations spread out on my property.

It has become absurdly divergent now between my recorded data and the official records.

Calibrated stations show differences of 3 degrees at different elevations and locations.

How does one define the official temperature promoted by the occupation media?

How can one accurately sample with one station and entire geographic area?

Based on over ten years of data I have found the narrative to be suspect.

The point that I was making is that since they can’t fly that low to measure the winds as it is too dangerous that they extrapolate from higher altitudes.

This post is wacko.

Claiming a weather conspiracy while a major storm is threatening landfall is lunacy and exceedingly irresponsible.
