Back around 1973 I went to the Roller Derby in Atlantic City with my friend and his dad. Same Sh!t. They were running and howling and destroying.The blacks went animal and trashed the place and beat up on white kids. We beat feet out of there and that was it for me and Roller Derby.

I also rode Greyhound around a lot in the 1970s. Harrisburg, PA.,and Saint Louis were the worst I saw back then. On the flip side Albuquerque wasn’t to bad and Breezewood,PA. was very nice.

15 years ago Mrs. R2 and I stopped in Memphis on our way home. We were enjoying the sites on Beale Street. During the day. Even then, I knew that was no place to be when the sun went down.

I live in north Mississippi but work in Memphis. Late one summer evening, a couple of years ago, I was alone at a jobsite in north Memphis (Frayser area) behind a strip shopping center. It was getting late and an elderly black gentleman slowly drove past me and said “it’s getting late, you need to get out of here”. I thanked him and told him I was about finished for the day. Very sweet of him to be concerned for me.
