I have always had a soft spot for that song. I like it...always have.

“...running like a watercolor in the rain...”

...strolling through the crowd like Peter Lorre, contemplating a crime...

Yeah, good stuff

My roommate played that to death. To this day, Genesis with Peter Gabriel makes me physically ill...

Trick was the first album without Peter.

I love playing bass along with this one and do often as it is good practice. Plenty of interesting chord movement and though it’s in the key of G, that chord is barely used in the tune.

This has been and will always be my favorite musical compilation. My fav track is “One Stage Before”.

You mean to tell me you forgot two blockbuster hits in 1976? Try

Starland Vocal Band’s tune called
“Afternoon Delight”
and

KC & the Sunshine Band’s “Shake, Shake, Shake, Shake, Shake Shake, Shake your Booty”

Hey didn’t know Alan Parsons produced this. I work with Alan’s lead singer occasionally, he’s a studio engineer/producer (PJ. Olsson).

You are probably right. I always made that association. Still can’t stand it. Squonk.... I could care less...

I remember hearing the “Fly Like an Eagle” album for the first time and how blown away I was by the synth sounds.

I’ve always liked that song. Who hasn’t felt like wanting to fly at some point in their lives?
I have had dreams where I flew instead of walked.
It seemed so natural in the dream.

One of my favorite albums...from LP to cassette tape to CD to MicroSD.

Thank you. Certainly one of my all time favorites. Mine is on a red label Janus Records. Time Passages is also a great track by him.

Again, Thanks for the article.

PJ engineered with Alan on the remake of ‘Sirius / Eye In The Sky’ that won a Grammy I think two years ago (time flies). He’s a blast in the studio.

The song may have come out in 1976, but the actual Year of the Cat ended on January 30 of that year. I was born in a different Year of the Cat.

Al Stewart was one of my three favorite musicians of my youth. (Also, Elvis Costello and Blondie—both in their earlier edgier incarnations).

I actually like his album Past Present and Future better than Year of the Cat. But I owned them both.

His was the first rock concert I went to, in 1976.

The same friends and I went to see him perform at a club in Seattle a few years ago. He was in his 70s, I think, but still going strong.
