We tried watching the newer version but it was so bad we turned it off about half way through. That one had an “every man for himself “ theme where as in the original the characters were working together to survive. Signs of the times I suppose.

Saw it back then 1972. Years later I am watching the movie DAYLIGHT with Sylvester Stallone, about taxi riders trapped in a tunnel under the NY harbor.
After a while I began to know what was coming next, and who would be killed next. Then I realized I was just watching a remake of POSEIDON ADVENTURE under the NY harbor. I believe the actual term for a rewrite script is “haircut”.

I’ve always used the poseiden adventure as a analogy for Democratic behavior. Remember the aristocratic purser leading people down deeper into a sinking ship promising that if they follow him they will be saved? Only an idiot, raised on the propaganda of the “aristocratic class” being smarter than everyone else, would believe that going DEEPER into a sinking ship would bring them to the surface in order to be rescued. And yet here we are now....with Biden as the purser. We are SO doomed!
It was a good movie... Loved when both MAD and Cracked did a spoof on it...In MAD the survivors got on the Titantic 🤓 Cracked had them eaten by Jaws...
