I use Brave on my smartphone, and on my desktop exclusively. I have for several years. I would use no other browser, it is excellent on the desktop. On my smart phone, it would be easier to use the Google system that the phone insists I do. I persist though, Google collects ALL information and sells it. I prize my privacy, more than ease of function on the smartphone. On the desktop, it is the best.

Security and Privacy would be my priority over features, as long as a reasonably decent basic feature set works well & has a good (straightforward, clean & screen space efficient) GUI.
I’ use Opera Version:95.0.4635.84, but have used it since it arrived on the Net, many years ago. It’s great, and I also use Norton 360 Premium and Premium Utilities with it.
I also use Pale Moon, Chrome, Brave when needed, or just for fun.
Brave user here.
It doesn’t work well with all websites, but a PERSONAL computer can run multiple browsers.
Liberty for all; Even those that eschew personal liberty.
I use Brave browser and it’s fast and works great on my PC....On my Mac I use Safari. I also use Brave on my Iphone-—works well and their search engine (a bit lacking) does a decent job at filter out the leftist site if I type in “ESG” or something like that. So yea, I use Brave most of the time.
I use Opera, because for some odd reason, with my older MAC that can no longer update most recent MAC OS updates, it actually works better than SAFARI
Opera is run by META/FACEBOOK, so I have no expectation of privacy, and web-browse accordingly. I can tell they are trying to maximize ad revenue from me.
One annoying thing is Opera constantly moves the “tiles” of my favorite sites, to insert whatever company they are promoting at the time.
Also, Opera will remove any Google sites (like Youtube) from “favorite” sites. Same with Twitter. You can tell who Mark Zuckerberg fears as his competition.
I’m on a Mac, so this may not apply to you.
I use commercial ad blockers on the Apple Safari browser, but they have failed and failed to the point now that all the ads get through. I have no idea why they all stopped working, but it’s like I don’t have any ad blockers. The “Reader” view in Safari still works well at blocking ads, though.
I use Brave and it almost perfectly blocks ads and popups. So many sites are now so filled with clutter and junk that they are totally unusable, but Brave makes them clean and easy to use. But there are some features in Safari that I really miss (but I can’t recall them right now!).
I use Brave and find it very easy to use.
Don’t know about the technical details, that’s mr. mm’s department, but we are happy with it.
I use Brave to browse Youtube because it blocks most of the ads, that among other things, has absolutely ruined that website.
May load Brave on an older Mac of mine to test out.
Thanks again.
Brave works very well most of the time and is on par with Chrome The integrated ad blocker works great. On rare occasion, some sites or pages will not work on Brave, so Firefox is a good backup alternative for these finicky pages.
Edge is the absolute worst because it is essentially spyware. Try never to use it. It copies your data to the cloud. It integrates with Windows.
It works well and has lots of tools that I haven't learned how to use yet.
I use Firefox, too and have for several years.
Top left of screen, there’s MENU in bright red; to add a BM, just click on that menu choice, “Add To Bookmarks”.
I like Brave very much
I don’t have much...yet.
FYI
I was an Opera tester(tested for free) back in the day - mid 90s - when you had to pay for that browser.
I was loyal and with them up until they sold it to a China company - even though they bailed on the Presto engine for a Chromium version a couple of years before. (I have no idea who owns it now)
Opera now has been remodeled and re-released June 2023. I have downloaded it but not test-drove it yet.
I suppose I’ll install it and see what gives.
I currently use vivaldi, as it was developed by former Opera people.
AHH!!!
Now, THIS thread is more like it!!!
(Ok, it took me a 2nd thread to figure out how to ask part of the dang question.) (eye roll...)
Does Brave do a full size (ie., at least 8-1/2” x 11” print preview on a monitor with at least a 12” “tall” screen?) (Fine print and aging eyes, ya’ know... Often I save print previews to pdf or image files to clean up a web page, like a receipt or instructions for something that I want to save. And so on.)
Chrome creates a preview only 7” tall on my 24” 4:3 “business class” monitor. (Another reason to get further away from it.) ;-)
I would stay away from Google Chrome unless you really like for them to have every detail of your online life. As for Brave, I’ve been using it for years now and am happy with it even with the occasional issue it has on certain websites. I expect that the issues you have encountered with Brave are associated with things going on behind the scenes which you probably would rather not function as you visit those sites. When it comes to legitimate websites which I expect are still collecting data I would rather not share (but have to in order to use the site) I use another browser... But only for that single use. IMHO, a browser that is performing a little slower because it is actually blocking unwanted things, is okay by me.
Agreed, it's outstanding and has built-in ad blockers, I've used it for many years too.
