I AM dismissive of that funding.
Half of this nation (and pretty much all of FR) laughs at consulting firms, Bud Light stupidity, and the attendant business leaders who know nothing behind PowerPoint. I’ve also met a lot of these people. They dress nicely, have polished syntax, and tend to know about their business pretty well. Beyond that, they’re utterly daft.
To fear them, is to give them power.
As for “controlling”$22t, they don’t. ‘Managed assets” isn’t the same as a 50.1% controlling equity ownership position. Furthermore, as an investment advisor, the shares are actually owned by the clients, not Blackrock.
Now, to be sure, as the agent for the clients, Blackrock can act on behalf of the clients in a way that may not reflect the clients’ values. Eg pursue solar vs oil. That’s a legit beef. Furthermore, there is a concentration issue and it’s always a good idea to keep their feet to the fire. So the zillions of tin foil hats typing feverishly about Larry Fink has some value.
But this idea that Fink sits in a Manhattan office, gleefully crushing the hopes and dreams of Americans by buying every apartment with the stroke of a pen, is barking mad. Indeed, it is akin to leftists thinking Halliburton controlled the world in 2002. Since when did conservatives become leftists?
But then, some people love to live in bondage. It’s the easy way out; they can blame the man behind the curtain or that guy in a mansion for their own laziness, lack of work ethic, and failures to use the talents God gave them. So I get it.
