Having lived in the Bay Area for a ton of years, I could agree with this.
The professor wasn’t wrong. What kind of mate you want dictates where you should go to find one.
You’re going to find a wife with solid country skills in the city, most of the time. You have to hit the small towns and country if you want that. Or if you want a wife who is a football fan, you don’t look in a museum for her, most of the time. You hit areas where football is popular.
Was he making a conservative point or a leftist point? I’m confused.
Heaven forbid women would be “hurt” by his words. It’s gotten so no one can tolerate a single bad feeling anymore. Women are wonderful but they’re also a pain in the ass. I feel Lucille Ball’s character in her television program was exaggerated but accurate.
I appreciate his phrasing.
Dear “They”,
If you wants a girlfriend, man up and start using masculine pronouns.
Or feminine ones. Who knows what Bay Area women are into these days.

He was making a truthful statement to a kid looking for some good advice.
I rode a bus from Fort Ord to San Fransisco to Montana, a guy going to Sacramento grabbed my knee. Didn’t turn out for him very well..
Heard about the hippie girls and free love but never found them...
This may be true now, but it definitely wasn’t, once upon a time. In the 80s-90s there were hordes of young women in SF, and it seemed that all of them were looking for guys. The sex ratio was very skewed.
The fact that this professor was forced to apologize in order to keep his job, and a female professor “felt threatened” just from hearing his option, illustrates his point. Having a sense of humor vs immediate panic makes for a more balanced individual.
The perfect song comes to mind
“” Tell it like it is...””
At least if you want a sane girlfriend.
I knew a young man that left the Bay area about a dozen years ago for just this reason. He felt if he got clear out of CA her could find a gal that liked kids and had good values.
He got married thousands of miles away, had kids, and his wife still went bat shit crazy. Was he perfect? No. However he was faithful and making 300k a year. She wanted more money.
Its an excellent turn of phrase
In San Francisco maybe 50 percent are homosexual, in the suburbs maybe 30 or 35 percent. Many more have no interest in long-term commitments (like family life). They’re in it for the night, one night at a time, or MAYBE a few weeks and that’s all she wrote, folks.
In brief, California has degenerated into a very sick scene.
Transvestism.
Rabid Leftism.
...and if they somehow find a woman who's neither of the above, he still has to contend with Hoeflation.
Hoeflation: Today's men must work 5 times harder than their grandfathers for women that are 20 times worse than their grandmothers.
Faggotry abounds
Few girls around
