What is the evidence for that?

It's on the Internet!

No doubt some of the deep thinkers will post that this is all interconnected. Maybe even throw in a passing reference to the Kraken as well.

In a conspiracy, there's no end to the possibilities that can be be spun.

The oiler was a dot-not-feather Indian.

Should they have renamed the ship the ""Dalit"?

We know now the ship dropped its port anchor as it was backing down, but it had no effect. We also know that there are ships in the Port, which cannot leave until the bridge wreckage is cleared (weeks, months at a minimum) and that there are 2 anchorages of ships waiting to get in, which will have to be diverted somewhere, plus all hazardous material carriers which used the bridge will have to be diverted, as they are not allowed to use the tunnels

It seems a key question would be, did the ship lose power anytime between leaving its berth, outward bound and the two known outages, just prior to the collision which could be “perfect timing”.

Oh, goody, now and for many moons they’ll have to use the western side of the Baltimore beltway… as if that doesn’t already have too much traffic congestion.

Multiple power outages, vessel does not maintain a GPS track of where it it suppose to be, excessive speed approaching the bridge.

Maybe that’s all normal, but something does not seem right with this.

One additional variable to consider in the mix. A G5/G4 solar storm has been active for many hours. I observed network audio feeds failing to my local radio station around noon on Sunday. Ben Davidson on Suspicious0bservers noted very strong electrical interference across the US last night. Solar storm impact/cyberattack/sabotage or just coincidence. Getting to the root cause is necessary. The ongoing impacts to commerce through the waterway and bridge are going to be with us for months.

Yep, they need to thoroughly investigate it. It could be nothing more than piss poor maintenance and long worn out equipment…. the one penny wise and pound foolish.

IIRC-—EVERY SHIP entering or exiting a port has a local MASTER PILOT aboard-—who knows where every Rock & piece of seaweed is.

It looks like the ship lost power just before heading under the bridge, managed to get emergency generators started which were enough to get the anchor dropped but not enough to affect steerage. Only one anchor dropped and it grabbed enough to slew the ship around into an allision (new word for me today!) with the bridge support that had no dolphin to protect it from ships.

My guess is simply bad timing on the engines and that accidents happen.
