RIP, probably a domestic dispute.

The other Yukon had a lawman and his dog Yukon King ready to spring into action.

I loved “Sergeant Preston of the Yukon.”

Yukon relocated to Oklahoma and no one noticed.

Just moved to the neighborhood and just drove by this scene coming home from work. Wow. Seems like a really nice area. Really sad.

I looked at the picture and thought:

Wow I didn’t know they had subdivisions like that in the Yukon.

I thought they all lived in log cabins on the side of a river.

Which should appeal to a woodbutcher of any vintage...

The headline is bad. This location is actually in the city limits of Oklahoma City. Yukon, Oklahoma, founded by Czech immigrants in the late 1800s, is a suburb of OKC. Oklahoma City actually surrounds it on all sides. The location of this event has a Yukon mailing address. This is pretty common around the OKC metro area. I too live in OKC but have a Yukon mailing address.

This is a tragic situation. The family in question has at least two children. It is a nice neighborhood with nice homes. While we have no definitive information, police did say it was a homicide and not carbon monoxide poisoning or some other such sitution. Most are thinking it is a domestic situation, but the homeowners have no divorce proceedings on file. So only the investigators know for sure at this point. I suspect we will soon hear that “there is no threat to the public” comments soon.

I thought the Yukon had more big trees, mountains and snow.

I saw a story about this 30ish couple that lived in the Yukon.
Every couple months they would load up the dogs in the Suburban and drive the 7-8 hours to Anchorage. They would spend the night and go to Costco and load up. They had two or three huge coolers.

They literally filled the SUV with food and then drove home. They showed their kitchen in their house in the Yukon. It was a lot nicer than mine. I suspect this guy worked at a gold or diamond mine or something that he made a lot of money. So, I guess not everyone in the Yukon lives in a cabin by the river with their Eskimo wife and drives a Skidoo to work on a trap line.

And Lumberjacks:

Well the weather for the whole area
Will continue much the same as the past few days
Temperatures 17 centigrade, that’s 49 fahrenheit
Winds will freshen tonight to South West, force 6 or 7
And there will be showers, sometimes heavy in many-
Oh sod it, I didn’t wanna do this, I don’t wanna be a weather forecaster
I don’t wanna rabbit on all day about sunny periods
And patches of rain spreading from the west
I wanted to be a lumberjack!
Leaping from tree to tree as they float down
The mighty rivers of British Columbia
The giant redwood, the larch, the fir, the mighty Scots pine!
The lowfty flowering cherry, the plucky little aspen
The limping Roo tree of Nigeria
The towering Wattle of Aldershot
The maidenhead weeping water plant
The naughty Leicestershire flashing oak
The flatulent Elm of West Ruislip
The Quercus Maximus Bamber Gascoigni
The Epigillus, the Barter Hughius Greenus
With my best buddy by my side
We’d sing, sing, sing
I’m a lumberjack, and I’m okay
I sleep all night and I work all day
He’s a lumberjack, and he’s okay
He sleeps all night and he works all day
I cut down trees, I eat my lunch
I go to the lavatory
On Wednesdays I go shoppin’
And have buttered scones for tea
He cuts down trees, he eats his lunch
He goes to the lavatory
On Wednesdays he goes shoppin’
And has buttered scones for tea
I’m a lumberjack, and I’m okay
I sleep all night and I work all day
I cut down trees, I skip and jump
I like to press wild flowers
I put on women’s clothing
And hang around in bars
He cuts down trees, he skips and jumps
He likes to press wild flowers
He puts on women’s clothing
And hangs around in bars
I’m a lumberjack, and I’m okay
I sleep all night and I work all day
I cut down trees, I wear high heels
Suspendies, and a bra
I wish I’d been a girlie
Just like my dear Papa
He cuts down trees, he wears high heels
Suspendies, and a bra?!
He’s a lumberjack, and he’s okay
He sleeps all night and he works all day
He’s a lumberjack, and he’s okay
He sleeps all night and he works all day

Yukon is in Canadian County, Oklahoma. (So at least there is a Canada angle, eh?)

I have more than five relatives buried in Canadian County, but as far as I know they all died of natural causes.

When I was in high school in the early 70s here in the great white north that song was almost an anthem for us. At almost every party a bunch of us would sing it in varying degrees of sobriety and we’d always be LOL at the end and rolling on the floor. It is ingrained in me from those years.
