Here in NH there were business owners who actively bucked the laws, and the laws were so vaguely written that then they were inevitably taken to court by some control freak maskhole, they won their case.

I have staunch conservative friends in Nashua and they told me the same thing. There were quite a few places that did that here as well. I still don’t shop at any of the stores that I heard about having mask nazis posted at their entrances to bark at people about masks.

A friend of mine went to Target to get one item from the electronics section during that time. She walked in, free-faced, ignored the barking maskerbater at the entrance and went back to the electronics section. The mask nazi followed her, barking “ma’am! ma’am!” the whole time and she just ignored him, got her item, went to self-checkout with the poor power-tripper barking futilely at her heels about a mask the whole time. She told me when she got back to her car, maskless and purchase in hand, she laughed so hard.

That poor mask nazi did not have a good day.

OK. Well I guess they heard that you were not wearing a mask and decided, “Screw it…no one wears one, ever again.” Yup…I am sure thats what happened.

That’s the only way to deal with them.

One local town tried to make a mask mandate even for people who were out of doors.

The local LE flat out told them that they would NOT be enforcing such a ridiculous requirement and wouldn’t even bother about the indoor one un less they got a call from someone complaining.

NH’s mask mandate for the few weeks it was in effect, was so loose and had so many exceptions that more people could go maskless than would have to have worn the mask.

Of course, the *Live free or die* mentality is pretty prevalent around here.

That is NOT what I said. Did you read the original post? I stuck in an extraneous "not", but my meaning should be clear. Also, it wasn't just "not wearing a mask", but calmly and clearly stating that the mask is useless. Not just me, but others, too.

Now, I do not believe my one remark and minimal compliance by itself made the difference, but I doubt I was not alone, with responses ranging from an eye roll to "Not this $%^& again!"

Here's what I am sure DID NOT happen. "Hey, there's an uptick in COVID ... let's bring back masks just for a week or two, and then, with no change in the COVID spike, drop the sign again without a comment or explanation!"
