I remember first watching the movie and after Rose died & re-united with Jack & the rest of the Titanic passengers and thinking, she had a one time fling with this guy, survives, gets married and has kids/grandkids but she’s re-united in the end with the one time fling?

Me too- though it would have to be a supernatural effort as I would likely cave under the pressure of the moment if left to my own nature.

Nowadays I can’t imagine many Western men believing they should give their seat on the lifeboat to a woman; that’s where we are now. Anyone who believes we may have another draft is delusional; the last decades have made it clear there is no legal way to include women in it. This is the flip side of insisting they can be included in all units (including combat units). These days I'd at least ask who they voted for, before letting them escape.

All the guys in the theater cheered when Jack became a Popsicle.

The article you posted repeats itself. It says the same thing, over and over. This is extremely common. And annoying.

Jeez, that watch is generic looking.
In fact, I have one that looks just like it.
My grandfathers watch was gold-filled however not 18 carat gold but otherwise it looks identical.

agreed- He was swimming around to those in the water preaching- gave up his life so that others could be saved- one fella gave his account and credited him with his salvation-

In Leontardo DICaprio’s case...steerage passenger means what comes out of his liberal mouth is steer excrement.

Dear mairdie, read your text above. Â It is a double strike. Â The same text is there verbatim, twice.
It wasn't your fault because that is how it was in the article you cut and pasted. Â You might have noticed it and deleted the repeated copy, but most FReepers don't. Â It's NBD.

IIRC, she tried to make room for Jack but when he tried to get on the piece rolled and threatened to dump her back into the freezing water. He chose to remain in the water to save her life.

Sounds like you have something to pass down and cherish for your family when you teach little ones about their history and tell them the stories they’ll remember when they, in their turn, take out your watch. That’s a perfect sort of family keepsake.

THANK YOU! I didn’t notice! I remember when it was common to wander an article and pick out bits and pieces, but something changed with the “excerpt” rule and now I just grab near the beginning and hope it’s under a hundred characters. I’ll try to be more careful. Thanks for your careful explanation.

You're welcome. Â I've been a complainer before but it is really on the source. Â Some sites link to "X"(twitter) and then post the same text as the twitter and then use the same text as captions to pictures. Â A cut'n'paste gives multiple repeats of text. Â It's a jungle out there.

But there were no survivors on any makeshift raft, right?
If you didn’t get into a lifeboat, you were doomed.
40-ish made it from the water to a lifeboat, or so they said.

I think that outside of large cities there is still a lot of patriotism and normalcy. My two step granddaughters (live with me) are in a public high school where tradition prevails to this day (but there is 20 - 30% loony bin even here).
