You're right on. If they obliterate NYC it's all over and the only suitable reply is to vaporize Mecca. I don't think these primatives would know how to deal with such a response. However, I do disagree with you including LA as an important target for Islamic terrorists. What would they bomb, Union Station? After all, there is no there there and nobody would notice!

I don't think so. Both are existential threats to the nation. Actually our policy should be not merely Mecca but all the Muslim population centers in the world. Kill so many of them that the rest will be too busy trying to survive to be able to attack us. Any other policy is so naive as to be suicide for a civilization. The only open question should be what is the threshold to cross to engage that response. A nuked US city would do it for me.
It would have earned the Russians a fiery fate, and I don't see why the Muslims deserve to be treated any better.
