not impressed with the present naval captains promoted under obama .....they can’t even successfully navigate the ships they command....if thats an indication of what the present competence of military prowess is....then Im not too concerned...plus we have plenty of ex military people that are well armed

I have war-gamed this a number of times with a friend who has, shall we say, lots of potentially relevant experience.
I think it is correct that information warfare would be the key to a successful (anti-Trump) coup. A pro-Trump coup, OTOH, would not require deception.
A successful coup would start with the physical removal of Trump and (probably) Pence. That would be announced as a “terrorist attack” (true, in a sense), and would require, “for everyone’s safety”, the imposition of certain “temporary” measures.
The junior and field-grade officers would not know the truth. They would only know their orders. Their men would follow them, as they are trained to do.
The Americans with their tricked-out ARs and hunting rifles wouldn’t know the truth, either. All they would know would be that, “to fight the terrorists” that public display of arms would be temporarily banned, controlled by military units using lethal force.
President Ryan would be sworn in within a week, the military would stand down, and Sunday night football would be back on the air.
Easy-peasy.
Inasmuch as we survived eight years of the most anti-American, worst president in history, without a military coup, it seems unlikely that they can take down Trump.
Our military is far too small to be able to secure the USA against the people. Second, they are made for interning elsewhere, and have no realistic ability to fight well on top of their own logistical tail.
Third, WI was this article written now bit boot during Obama. The author clearly thinks this is a good idea.

I don’t ever want to contemplate what a fight between many millions of armed citizens versus the most experienced and technologically advanced military in the world would be like.
It would not be some Red Dawn scenario, I assure you that much.
Besides, if the military did nothing against bammy, they aren’t even interested in Trump.

This would be a great way to get rid of the Obama era senior military leadership.
If these officers participate in a coup, they will be captured or killed nearly immediately, no doubt, by military members loyal to the Constitution. They will find they will be handled far less mercifully by civilians that get their hands on coup-plotters.
The author is nuts. The military loves Trump. If there was ever going to be a military coup it would have been on Omuslim or Clinton. Those guys pledge fealty to the constitution.

There was **plenty** that the highest military could have legally and peaceful done about a usurper sitting in the White House. They did nothing but they did protect their pensions and prestige. I am disgusted.
