Probably would not have logged the alleged incident.
Doing what he perceived was the right thing, and getting punished for it. Makes perfect sense in a kaka-foo world.
Would have done the same, no pictures, no social media, don’t tell effing anyone. That’s the new normal. Virtue is its own reward.
Somebody has a high AH quotient to fire a guy over something like that.
alleged incident.
“What? Me put a moose calf in the truck? Whattayou crazy??!”
Ditto button.
“Gotta send a message, dagnammit!!!”
Of course, as soon as you physically pick up a moose, it becomes habituated to humans and will be put down.
Hey, bears gotta eat.
It was not going to be “mauled by a black bear.”
It was going to be “eaten by a black bear.”
See the difference?
And there it is the motto of my life…
Such is our world today, in all areas of our lives.
I have zero social media, unless this counts.
FYI, my screen name isn’t my real name…
> Hey, bears gotta eat. <
Right you are. On the other hand, it is human nature among good people to help the underdog. And the baby moose is most certainly the underdog here.
For example, suppose I’m walking down a sidewalk. And I see a man beating the crap out of a boy. I’m going to hit that man so hard with my brass knuckles that I’ll knock him into next Tuesday.* No matter that the kid might have just murdered the guy’s wife. The kid is the underdog at present.
* Side note to government snoops. I do not carry brass knuckles. I’m speaking hypothetically here. Seriously.
The Canadians are euthanizing children. No surprise those feckless monsters have a problem with saving a baby moose.
I have a friend who carries meat claws. Perfectly legal.
Same here..
The headline is BS. The calf wasn’t saved from being mailed. The guy picked it up afraid it would be. Big difference.
It’s a wise decision.
There are certified wild animal rehab people— and there are those for baby moose.
This driver for a petroleum outfit, no doubt had cameras on him, gps tracking the works-— time and motion. If the cab camera showed a baby moose.. well then they had him. If not and he kept his mouth shut (but he wouldn’t necessarily know how to find a rehaber to take the young animal) he’d of been in the clear. Human scent on the animal if left off elsewhere might mean rejection by any foster mom moose- they are not pack animals. Deer will accept an orphan fawn whose momma got run over- have seen it done. rubber gloves wrap in non scented cloth to restrain, etc.
Idiotic for the company which of course is paranoid of getting fine for a rescue. None of this seems right, and the dude is one nice guy. Bears gotta be bears and they are ominvores.
