Just don’t tell the authorities everything you know. They don’t know how EVERY individual case turns out. They just use statistical models and assume that the model is rock solid accurate. Guy could have easily taken the calf out of harms way or donated to a rehab farm somewhere. Maybe bear had already killed or severely injured mama moose.
Guy did the right thing. He erred on the side of life.
Now the animal control folks will turn the moose calf loose and let “nature take its’course”. Y’know, they got better things to do. I wouldn’t work for that employer with their attitude anyway.
Since no one has posted it yet, I must:
“A møøse once bit my sister...
No realli! She was Karving her initials on the møøse with the sharpened end of an interspace tøøthbrush given her by Svenge - her brother-in-law - an Oslo dentist and star of many Norwegian møvies: “The Høt Hands of an Oslo Dentist”, “Fillings of Passion”, “The Huge Mølars of Horst Nordfink”.
We apologise for the fault in the subtitles. Those responsible have been sacked.
Mynd you, møøse bites Kan be pretty nasti...”
Used to be that I could easily stay out of trouble by doing the right thing.
Now, not so much so I stay away from things, places and most people. I don’t need their crap.
I am a little disappointed it took so many posts for that to show up. Not with you, but FReepers in general
Of course, none of the parties involved considered the possibility that Mama moose was out grazing and then returned to get her baby only to find it in danger. She was probably hiding just inside the wood line, full as a tick, with teats hanging low after eating, just waiting for the right moment to charge the bear, cuss out the trucker, and take her little one off to nurse in a secluded grove nearby.
Now, Mama Moose is standing forlornly by the roadway wishing her little one will be returned to her as her teats are throbbing painfully. Her hopes are in vain as the evil park rangers will put the little baby moosie down in order to be kind to it.
There is always two sides of the story!
Why?
First rule of Moose Rescue..... Don’t talk about it!
Normal protocol is when an animal has a significant human interaction, like a car ride the animal later becomes too friendly with humans, enter campsites, wrecks stuff, endangers humans etc.
The guy was a good hearted idiot.
Kind of like the idiot a few weeks ago that caused a five car crash because he stopped on a highway to rescue a turtle.
Plus that, no one is considering the bear. Perhaps he was hungry and needed some protein.
Indeed it’s like someone trying to save all the fish
Futile
