It sure reads like satire.

Too bad it doesn’t mean anything to “run the gauntlet”

I guess the original poster said it best when he deemed it “semi-satire.” We could also say “verisimil.”

“Verisimilitude”, from wikipedia:

(from Latin verisimilitudo, from verus true + similitudo similitude) is the state or quality of something that exhibits the appearance of truth or reality.

In literature and theatre, the term denotes the extent to which a work of fiction exhibits realism or authenticity, or otherwise conforms to our sense of reality. A work with a high degree of verisimilitude means that the work is very realistic and believable; works of this nature are often said to be “true to life”.

Good writing. Another clever satirical idea about Mexican politics came from Eduardo del Rio, who referred to the PRI (Partido Revolucionario Institucional - which is an oxymoron -- both revolutionary and instiutional?) as the "RIP."

“For the Americans to deny her the human right to live in freedom and prosperity and forcibly send her back here is a crime,”

Does this mean Mexico is opening its borders to the poor of Guatemala, El Salvador etc????

Memo to “outraged” Mexican “senate”: Take your “outrage” put it where the sun doesn’t shine, then go sit on an air hose and rotate.

That makes three or four reeled in.

Considering some of the ridiculous statements that have come from the real Mexican congress FReepers shouldn't feel bad about it. It's more a mirror held up to the Mexican government.
