So are mine and I use them without concern for rust or bluing wear and they are as reliable as a hammer. My other ones just set in the safe.

VVV, I got that Sigma in .40 first of the year and paid about $300 new. And you’re right: if you can squeeze a Smegma trigger, you can pump gas using only Mr. Thumbkin and Mr. Pointer!
Looked at this as well: http://www.handgunsmag.com/featured_handguns/cobrapatriot_062207/
I’ve heard good things about the Hi-Point, but the .45 looks too much like my Ryobi drill.

A Golck mod 20 (10mm) and a SIG 229 in .40 does it for me.
The SIG’s an easy concealed carry and when there’s trouble brewing in River City, I like having 15+1 rounds of .41 mag-like persuasion on tap with the Glock.
Both shoot better than I can aim them. And I can aim ‘em pretty darn good.

You lost me when you said Glocks are the ugliest.
Glocks are beautiful unless you are a gun snob.
The HiPoint is one ugly gun!

My Glock is beautiful. Reliable, functional and did I say utterly reliable? I'm just not a fan. I don't care for the grip and that you have to pull the trigger to disassemble. This is not to disparage anyone that owns one. They are great guns, just not for me.

I own a Python and several very nice Smiths. but that's the problem. These nice blued pieces are too nice to take outside. Like my Belgian Brownings.

I don’t own any that are too nice to take out and shoot. And I own some very nice one’s indeed.

They are pretty ugly, and they are fairly inexpensive, but for the price, and the capability, the Hi-Point is one of the biggest sellers in the shop.
I've shot all but the 40, and have been impressed with the reliability and the fairly good accuracy. They are heavy, but that helps a lot. This is not a weapon I would consider for any kind of duty rig, but if you want a weapon you can store with your hunting gear and not worry about really caring for it, this is the one.
P.S. Glocks have not come up with any technological advancements in years. A number of companies are out pacing and outclassing Glock and a lot of LEO departments are moving to that newer technology.

No way I would EVER buy a Hi-Point. If necessary, I would work two jobs until I saved the money to get a real gun. Self defence is like interviewing for a job.....you only have one chance to make a first impression :] I bought one out of sheer curiosity after seeing all of the Hi-Point arguments on gun forums.
I don't carry it, but it has never jammed and is dead-on accurate.
My "go-to" handguns are my S&W 642, Ruger GP100, Springfield XD45 compact, Glock 21, and Beretta 92FS.
(Okay, I love guns.)

I can't bring myself to shoot the .357. It's in 95 + condition and no longer in production. I've never seen a better example except new in the box for $1800. That gun was a 4 inch model, not nearly as desirable as the 6 inch.

Amen!
And I will sport you a .40 sub-compact to further solidify your point!

Stick with good or decent ammo and clips, like you said, and you should be fine.
A used Ruger 9 mm is another option. Reliable, cheap and reliable.

My late mother-in-law (a great depression child) always said that there are two things in life on which you do not scrimp; shoes and mattresses. I would have to add firearms to that short list. If you have to save awhile, do it -- do whatever you must -- the result is always worth the sacrifice and/or wait.
Having said all of that ... congrats on your new purchase. Far be it from me to criticize anyone when they are exercising their right to keep and bear arms. Have fun and be safe! (just don't make it a habit to buy the inexpensive stuff).

You need to have a "boating accident" where you lose all your guns.
The amount of iron at the bottom of bodies of water, is growing steadily.

With the newer ammo, 9mm has once again become one of my favorite SD rounds. I LOVE my 9mm CZ PO-1 and recently added a .22LR conversion kit for it....much cheaper to practice with using basically the same gun. I also have a Kel-Tek PF9 for a pocket gun loaded 7 rounds of nasty little Speer Gold Dot zappers for those moments when nothing else will do.

I carry a Beretta Tomcat in .32 using Glaser Safeties mixed with Hydra-shocks. Small, compact and deadly.

That's my carry piece; the mod 22.
.40 S&W is a good round.

That Hi-Point may not be the prettiest girl at the dance, but she still might be alot of fun.
I just sent my 9mm Sigma in for a free warranty re-work of the internals. It will result in a smoother trigger pull and action.
My “dress” pieces are a Ruger LCP w/Hornady Critical Defence loads, and my beautiful, classic, S&W 39-2.

Hey, I have that same S&W. Laser grips and all. It's a fun little revolver, but my Ruger BlackHawk .357 sure feels sweet after firing this one for a while.
